We chose to go to Bellewaerde during the Halloween period. The entire park is transformed into a horror park, child friendly of course, and all the attractions even have new names. Theme this year was Fiësta Mortal, based on the Mexican Day of the Dead. There were 4 new haunted houses and 2 new shows, all specially for the Halloween period. Amongst all of this you can also still visit the animals, such as lions, tigers, elephants, zebras, monkeys and giraffes to name but a few. But Halloween or not, this park is good for entire day of dun for the whole family.

Family of five (2 adults, 2 late teens, one early teen). We have visited Bellewaerde several times over the past few years and each time we are not disappointed. Even though it was a hot sunny August day, the longest we had to queue was 20 minutes (are you listening Alton towers!). The restaurants were clean, efficient and had plenty of seating even at peak times. Even with the improvement works ongoing the park was a joy to visit.
Thoroughly recommended for children of all ages.

What a waste of money, overpriced food, filthy toilets, not all rides are functional. Wont be back, extremely expensive compared to the Efteling. Animal in closures stink unusually so.

Bellewaerde has a bit of everything. There is some wildlife. I didn't see all. Some animals are housed ok, others are really pittyfull. I don't think this can be tolerated much longer.
The setting is in need of some fresh paint. Toilet need to be cleaned more often.
Some attractions are really nice (Dawson duel, Huracan) but you loose about half your day waiting for the attractions. A fast lane, or a lane for single riders could help out for some visitors.
In the shooting gallery you had to pay to shoot. Obviously, I haven't seen anyone use it.
Some attractions offer the possibility to buy an action picture. After the Hurracan, one of the 2 machines was out of order, the second didn't take any money. So no pictures could be purchased.
The diving show is nice. The story though, brings no added value. The stunts are very spectacular and worth seeing.
We used a day trip from Belgian rail. That included train, bus and entry tickets to the park. Bus and train are almost free so really recommend this way of travelling. The bus drops you of at the entry of the park.

We visited on 1st August, during the heatwave in Northern Europe.

We drove over from Brussels for a day trip.

We paid 106 euros for 2 adults and a 6-year-old for entry and parking, so it's not a cheap day out. But there are lots of attractions - good rollercoasters, play parks and rides.

Food was OK if a bit overpriced at the Texas Grill. The smell from the nearby toilets was quite nasty though.

Sadly the day was plagued by the ridiculous amount of wasps in the theme park. They were swarming around the bins, which implies that cleanliness is not as thorough as it should be. My daughter was very scared of them, having recently been stung by one. It eventually forced us to leave earlier than we would have liked.

Disney work very hard in the US to control mosquitos. It didn't appear the same level of rigour is applied here. I understand it's unseasonably hot weather here, but as a theme park charging premium prices, you have to be more proactive to improve pest control, thus improving customer experience.

First visit and have to say the children 6 and 10 enjoyed it so much and this was their first proper visit to a theme park with rollercoasters. Food prices were alright and ques not terribly long, ride ques were alright. Was a clean park and staff were friendly. Slightly disappointed there was no English map but managed with the French one. (yes i know not everything has to be in English! ) Only hiccup in the day was the fact we got stuck on the Bengal express!! in the lion enclosure. Though this did get sorted and we got lead out a safe way and given some free very cold water bottles as it was a hot day! We do laugh about this now but would have been nice if they had used the intercom system to let us know what was going on! We would happily return the children had a lovely day as did the adults. They do charge for parking however and i would advise you get your tickets online as it is cheaper! though not a terrible price on the door for what you are getting.

After the seriousness of war museums and war graves a day here is light relief. It’s well organised from booking on line to entry, we were cut price over 55 constitutes senior! The parking is signposted and staff direct you in to a space keeping it flowing. There is security on the gate, but that is very efficient.

The free maps are only in Dutch and French nothing in English but we didn’t have any problems and we speak neither.

There are plenty of seats, plenty of shade and lots of concession stands, but most people brought their own food it seemed. We didn’t queue for anything apart from the stunt show but I think we only did the less popular rides. We went on a jungle cruise, carousel swings, raging rapids ( got soaked) and the pirate ship, we enjoyed them all, even one of our party who never does rides.

We ate lunch and I thought it was very reasonable as was the huge ice creams we had later.

The stunt show divers were amazing and on the way out they gave the kids sweets.

It was very hot 31o C so we left at 15.00 hours and the guy at the exit helped us get a parking ticket he was like all the staff very pleasant and helpful. I think this place was well worth a visit for a fun day would definitely come back.
