“Humbling and inspiring”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Each time we have been to Ypres we have attended the Last Post ceremony at Menin Gate. This year we had the honour of laying a wreath during one of the ceremonies held every evening at 8pm. It was a very moving occasion. The procedure was outlined to us very briefly but we copied the people in front of us - ladies from the British Legion. The only down side was that some people wore really casual clothing (shorts and denims) and to me this is not showing due respect to the WW1 dead. Another fabulous experience in Ypres.

“Very moving”

Needs to be seen - on every night at 8pm but get there for about 7.15 latest. Stand at the front if you can otherwise you will not see much as it gets very crowded

“A Moving Experience”

It is simply the fact that the ceremony takes place every evening and is run and staffed by volunteers that impresses. The ceremony is performed with great dignity, although the organisers must beware of the temptation of allowing it to become a circus.

“A Must Do experience”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I have been to the ceremony 5 times now and each one has been different but equally moving. The difference being the people who are presenting the wreaths that evening ranging from school children to aging bikers sharing a common respect and determination that The Fallen will not be forgotten
