What a place!

I stayed in a lot of hotels in my life and this one would easily come near the top of my list of favourites.

Small, slightly quirky, beautifully decorated and equipped, perfect service, excellent breakfast, nicely located... I could go on and on.

It's not often your expectations of a hotel are exceeded - this place did it in spades for me!

Room Tip: We had the "Science Room" - it was brilliant!

We booked the Main Street on the basis of the trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed.
We stayed in the Glory room which seemed very appropriate for our WW1 tour. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was downright luxurious. I wish I had been able to visit all the rooms, as they all were themed in interesting ways.
Carine is the friendliest, most caring innkeeper that we have ever met. Nothing was too much to make our visit a success. Her breakfasts were inventive and delicious. There was something on the menu for everyone.
We don't know if we will ever be back in Ypres, but we would only stay at Main Street.

Wished we could have this type of service and accommodation everywhere. The welcome was brilliant with a welcome drink and tourism advise. Our room decor was exceptional and all amenities thought of. Room was very clean and quite, and a delight to be in. Breakfast was fabulous gourmet food. Everywhere else we are staying is paling into insignificance compared to this boutique hotel. Other accommodation we have stayed in have been similar price without all the additional benefits of this one. If you are staying in Ypres do yourself a favour and stay here. Location to the Menin Gate and restaurants a mere stroll away.

Room Tip: All rooms would be great,

A fabulous stay in this wonderful gem of a hotel. Our room (GLORY) was amazing, the decor, the comfort and the helpfulness of Carine, the owner and host, are second to none. The attention to detail is staggering. Breakfast really set us up for the day, she bakes the bread, everything is fresh. Even the pots and bowls are handmade by her husband. This is definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed in. We are already planning a return trip.

We wanted to add to all the well deserved positive reviews that this gorgeous little hotel has received and to thank Carine for her wonderful hospitality during our stay last week Tuesday - Friday. We chose the "Top" room and wished we could live there - the website photos don't do it justice as it has the wow factor that you can only appreciate by seeing it - the original beams, the high ceiling, the "sun" lightshade that is like a night light for adults and the pig under the chair were some of our favourite little points. The room looks over the back of the house so is blissfully peaceful and quiet. Throughout the hotel there are Carine's special little touches, the tasteful rosebuds adorning the breakfast tables, the cute little mouse that is hiding away on the turn of the stairway up to the second floor, the quirky dental chair in the basement in which you can sit and watch Star Trek throughout the day, the warmly inviting reception/bar/snug where you can relax with a drink from the honesty bar, the sun terrace that the breakfast rooms leads onto - all these add to the uniqueness of this very special hotel. On our last day our taxi was late coming to collect us and Carine ran over to the car park to collect her car to take us to the station in case it didn't turn up. Whilst she was away it finally did turn up and we had to leave without a proper goodbye which was very sad for us as Carine is such a lovely lady, and her doing this serves to illustrate how she will go out of her way to help her guests. Finally we have to say that Carine's rice cream at breakfast is the ultimate rice pudding and it wasn't impolite to other guests, we could have eaten the whole bowlful....she has even emailed us her recipe which we will try out this weekend. We will be back.

Room Tip: There are two rooms that face the front of the hotel, Glory and Wild, so if you prefer the tranquili...

This small delightful hotel, is all the things we wanted
Our room (Glory) was at the front of the building, overlooking the church, with so many thoughtful touches.
Everything worked perfectly (Wifi, A/C, TV in bathroom, Nespresso machine).
The greatest surprise was the extensive breakfast. A magnificent selection of high quality food, all perfectly arranged.
THANK YOU Main Street Hotel.

This is my second review of this hotel...to me what is important is consistency...the same level of service/quality...after my second stay I was not let down.

This area is personally difficult due to a family loss in WW!...only completely determined since my first visit....so to come back to such a welcoming place on each evening of our stay was important.

There is a storyline....the welcome...the rooms...the breakfast...the guidance if you need it...so considerate.

Difficult to fault.

My Flemish is non existent but either many thanks or Sinceres Salutations.

Kind regards,

David Turnell

Room Tip: The restaurant comment refers to the breakfast...there is something for everyone...so well presented...
