“Exceptional small hotel with the best breakfast ever”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

What a find! We stayed for two nights, but really wished we had made it longer. Our warm (the weather was freezing outside) rooms 'Glory' and 'Experiment' were very imaginatively and comfortably decorated. Each of the superb bathrooms had faultless plumbing and wonderfully scented toiletries. Our rooms had a safe, complimentary mini bar with wine, whiskey, Baileys, soft drinks, nibbles, super soft beds with good linen sheets and welcoming Belgian chocolates etc - everything was thought of. The hotel sitting room was packed with interesting books and leaflets to help with planning our days (as well as with homemade cakes in the afternoon). Carine was the best of hosts and breakfast was the best we've ever had - champagne, fruit salad, vanilla rice, fresh homemade bread, meats, cheeses, excellent cooked choices, croissants, hot chocolate and more and more. We were able to park beside the church opposite so that we could see our car from the hotel. In conclusion, the Main Street Hotel proved to be a perfect haven and an ideal place from which to walk to the Menin Gate to hear the Last Post and to drive around Flanders to visit the WWI battlefields and cemeteries.

Room Tip: Our rooms Glory and Experiment were excellent. Being at the front of the hotel some traffic noise c...

I cannot say enough good things about this fabulous hotel...2nd visit with my husband and Uncle, decided to return for my birthday in December..Carine was there to give us a very warm welcome, with a drink and home made brownies.
The rooms were amazing,we had Glory and Experiment,so beautiful the best we have ever stayed in,comfortable bed, great nights sleep, huge bathroom beautiful products large shower, and the bath was to die for!You have to see it to believe it,and we have travelled to many places. It was lovely to meet fellow guests and enjoy a drink with them from the honesty bar in the beautiful reception/lounge area after dinner in one of the many great restaurants in the square in Ypres.
The breakfast was sublime, the homemade rice pudding went down a treat,as well as the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs..so delicious.and have to mention freshly squeezed orange juice!Cant wait to return..and we will, again and again!Book this boutique hotel,I promise, you will NOT be dissapointed! Thanks again Carine for a wonderful stay...Yvonne

Room Tip: All rooms are amazing....Glory overlooks a beautiful church

Stayed just one night at Ypres on the way down to Switzerland for Christmas.
It really has all been said by your previous reviewers.
Briefly:
Very warm welcome and we really enjoyed a chat with the proprietor and the Belgian beer she offered us upon arrival.
Stayed in the Experiment room first floor with twin beds.
Rooms and bathrooms really modern. We didn't use the mini-bar but everything in it, including beer and wine, is included in the room rate. The room even had a Nespresso machine!
Breakfast was great - wonderful selection of fresh produce for a small hotel and of course a Nespresso machine with a good selection of blends.
Car parking available opposite the hotel - free overnight.
Central location in Ypres - 5 minute walk to the central square and 10 minutes to the Menin Gate.
Main Street is just a tastefully and thoughtfully furnished hotel and one where we received a
very warm welcome and had a good night's sleep and great breakfast. As one of your earlier reviewers has pointed out - lt seems as though every little detail has been covered.

Room Tip: If you want twin beds then the first floor Experiment room is quiet and just fine

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and it was incredible! There were so many personal touches such as a nice chat over coffee and homemade cake with the hostess on arrival, to the abundance of gorgeous toiletries in our bathroom! The breakfast was out of this world, with pretty much everything you could ever want, including sparking wine!! We were genuinely gutted to check out of the hotel, and we will definitely book a return visit soon!!

Having myself quite some experience with hotels by travelling throughout Europe, as well on individual base as guiding international tours, Main Street Hotel in Ieper was more than a pleasant surprise.
Apart from comfort and luxury, the service and gentleness was outstanding. The little details -en cours de route towards the room- and in the room itself are amazing.
Ieper-centre is within walking distance, but also cities as Brugge, Gent, Tournai or the Belgian coast or even the North of France are within acceptable distance.
I strongly recommend Main Street Hotel as your holiday base for the above mentioned area.

My wife and I stayed for One night only at this lovely abode November 2011 ,and have often spoken of it to our friends, when our last trip to Belgium is mentioned.
All the comfort and luxury we needed, and nice little touches like "Help yourself" to the little bottles of Beer and Wine in the fridge. Suffice to say we did not go mad with the alcohol, but did enjoy the Nespresso Coffee Machine. Also the breakfast was helpyourself and very delicious. Also big T V and one in the bathroom !!!
Like many of their countryfellows the proprietors spoke excellent English,so we had a respite from using our French. They really do make you Wecome...
The Hotel is situated very near the main sqaure, and the Menin Gate where we walked down to join in the evening Last Post Ceremony at 8.00 P.M.
Would strongly suggest having a good look at this hotel website, and you will be suprised at the wonderful different syles of bedroom decor.
In conclusion ...we Loved it and will visit again.

We stayed for a night as a family group, having 3 rooms (Top, Glory and Experiment)...my sister in law took photos of her room to try to recreate it, my mother in law is now buying a nespresso and my husband wants to find a way of putting a TV with floating remote in our bathroom! We were very impressed...rooms were amazing and service was attentive but not intrusive. I cannot recommend this place enough...

Room Tip: Top has a huge bath...experiment has an awesome rain shower...glory is beautiful
