We stayed at this hotel as part of a group tour, and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is adequate, but would really benefit from an upgrade. We had a room with two beds (because of the small size of the room, the beds were pushed together). The carpets were stained, and the bathroom has seen better days. The shower was hot in the morning, but you can barely turn around in it. There is a small elevator (2 people can fit in it really, and with not much luggage), but we chose to take the stairs as we were only on the 3rd floor. The hotel staff graciously brought the luggage up using the elevator (although I was happy to take the stairs, I did not want to do so with my luggage).

The continential breakfast was fine with ham, cheese, pastries, oranges, juice, coffee and chocolate. We also had dinners at the restaurant, and they good as well.

The location of this hotel, however, can't be beat. It is within walking distance of the Menin Gate and the Cloth Hall.

If you are looking for a place to stay and aren't too picky, then this will likely serve the purpose. If I find myself in Ypres again, I will likely explore other options.

Stopped for a lunch time meal before travelling and picked this restaurant as the food looked good. Went for the Menu of the day and the food for the starter and main was excellent. Well cooked and presented. it did take a bit of time between courses to actually get the food but was worth the wait. Waiting for the dessert, as it said on the menu, and when we asked what it was we were told tea or coffee, not food. I thought dessert was food but i got it wrong and we got no dessert. If you a making tea or coffee your options say so. Don't suprise it on the customer. Would have give this 4 stars otherwise.

Our sinceer apologies for your time to wait.
Most unlikely because when a waitress is in pauze , another staff member is taking over...
so nobdoy has to 'wait' for service...

As i already said before, my sinceer apologies and i hope this will never happen again!

greetings

Before our visit the staff worked hard to make sure that the accomodation was what we wanted for our group. We liked the central location and the management worked hard to make sure staff and students were happy - e.g. changing the drinks at breakfast from coffee to chocolate. The rooms were fine and suited students. It was great to have the opportunity to use the dining room at certain times (e.g. on an evening) to meet with students as a group. We asked to stay at this venue again when we organised our Battlefields visit for this year. I hope we have a good time again!

Fantastic location - we visited for Anzac Day - originally booked two nights but added on an extra as there is just so much we needed still to see - I would have rated this higher and I am no Hotel Inspector - but the customer service factor has let this place down - difficult to find anyone to ask re information - it could have done with a good vacuum in the hallway - little things like that go a long way to make an even better impression - however - beds were clean and warm, shower fantastic - The breakfast was delicious. Cost was 120 euros per night - which was happy to pay for considering we were without transport and travelling with two young children.

Great location in the corner of the Grote Market, easy for everything in Ypres, only a 100 metres or so from the Menin gate. If you want a posh hotel to take the wife, this is not for you, but for a group of WW1 battlefield enthusiasts who want a decent room, comfy bed and excellent food, this is where to stay. The folks are friendly and helpful (apart from Tuesdays when everyone seems to take the day off).

Room Tip: Some nice rooms overlooking the Grote Market, but it can get noisy early in the morning, especially...

It was almost four years ago since I last visited this restaurant (last time was not very good). Today,we came with a group (61 p). We had the choice between 3 meals: fish, meat and veggie. Dinner was served at a reasonable time, the food was very good! Soup was delicious, meat and fish very good and the vegetarians didn't have any complains either. The staff (Lissa) was very friendly (nice smile) and helpfull. I'm sure we will visit this restaurant againwith other groups.
