We booked a private 4 hour tour with Lionel for 3 adults and our 3 grandchildren aged 8, 9 & 12. We had an amazing time, covering several different sites and learning lots of interesting facts. Lionel was brilliant with the children and took time to answer their questions. The tour was enjoyed by all and if we visit the area again would not hesitate to book another tour with this very knowledgable gentleman. Thank you Lionel for a great tour.

Lionel, our guide, had an amazing knowledge of the history as well as fascinating and sad stories of the 1st WW. His spoken English is excellent and he kept us interested for the whole 4 hour trip with stops, visits to key battle points and cemeteries. Our only disappointment was that we ran short of time at Hill62 not only to visit the trenches but spend more time in the museum. (Lionel - suggest you shorten the initial history lesson down to 15 mins, my friend) We did not have the time to go on the South Salient tour, as the following day was the major commemoration of the NZ offensive at Passchendaele 12 Oct 1917 at which my grandfather was killed and was buried at Tyne Cot. However, I hope one day to return to another of Lionel's great tours.

This is our second time touring with Lionel and this time we brought our grandkids with us(16 and 14).My wifes great uncle was killed on 2nd October 2017 so we particularly wanted to take the kids to see where he is buried and show them the area around Ieper,Our 4 hour tour took in Essex Farm,Tyne Cot,Hill 62 and the small cemetery where my wifes great uncle is buried,As usual Lionel was a very informative guide and his narrative kept both teenagers interested,no mean feat to be honest. We all enjoyed the tour and Lionel arranged for my wife and the kids to lay a wreath at the last post ceremony at the Menin Gate that evening.Hopefully there are now 2 teenagers who understand the sacrifices made a century ago and they will continue the remembrance we've started. Thanks Lionel for making this a fascinating day out

On 25/09/2017 I enjoyed a tour with Frontline Tours. The guide (Lionel) knows from the very first moment how to fascinate you for the story of the Great War. My tour lasted four hours and contained a true gold mine of information. During this trip we drove to Boezinge, Langemark, Zonnebeke, Zillebeke, Ypres and visited: Essex Farm Cemetery (John McCrae), Talana Farm Cemetery, Ledwidge Memorial, Artillery Wood Cemetery, Welsh National Memorial Park, German War Cemetery, Canadian War Memorial, New Zealand Memorial, Hellfire Corner, and had the opportunity visiting Tyne Cot Cemetery or Sanctuary Wood Cemetery/Museum, Hill 62.
At every major crossroad, Lionel told us a fascinating story in which he clearly distinguished between fact and legend. A can only honestly say that this tour is a must if you’re visiting Ypres and want to get more information about the Great War from the inside of it. So, it was worth my day!

We just enjoyed (group of 4 adults) a great tour of the Ypres battlefields. Our guide was excellent. He got to know us at the start & personalized the tour, adding amazing stories to bring the story of WW1 & the Ypres Salient to life. Would definitely recommend a tour with this company
