Just come back from Ypres. I would recommend Ambrosia hotel, its clean, food is excellant, coffee/chocolate/ tea machine in reception for use, Train station about 10 minutes away. Excellant location for seeing the sites. I would definately recommend this hotel. I would also suggest Battlefield Tours for getting around to see the sites in and around Ypres friendly and really informative.
Shops shut on Sunday and Mondays in the town, also 12-2pm

Most of the time when I am staying at Ieper for business purposes - about once a month - I stay at the Ambrosia. I much prefer this to other places in and around Ieper. It is small, family run and has got a lot of character. Vincent, the owner, is rally caring. If you have a complaint or suggestion, he reacts to this very quickly and works on constantly improving the already very modern premises. In my case for example, I found the matresses much too soft in the beginning. After Vincent was informed, he started replacing them. This shows how much he really cares about the well being of his guests!!

Service: 10/10 (Vincent the owner - best in class when it comes to customer care!)
Rooms: 8/10 (very nice, well equipped and clean, some rooms can be a little small when staying for a week or longer)
Breakfast: 9/10
Location: 10/10 (right at the Ieper center)
Overall: 9/10

Can only recomment this charming, little Hotel to everyone.. Enjoy your time at Ieper!

Alex

Room Tip: Just phone Vincent the owner and discuss your needs for the room. I am sure he will provide honest feedback and do his best to meet your needs.

The hotel is located just a short stroll from Grote Markt (Market Square) and the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing, as well as most of the shops and restaurants/pubs. The hotel is close enough to the action to be convenient, but just far enough away to be quiet at night.

The room was small but, but in a cozy way, and was comfortable and clean and had everything my wife and I needed, including a private bathroom with shower and hair dryer.

Vincent, the owner, was very gracious and helpful and even personally cooked breakfast for us in the morning, while chatting with us. Not many places give you that kind of service... especially when you consider the price of our stay.

Great value for our money and we will definitely be staying at the Ambrosia when we return to Ypres.

NOTE: Parking will be an issue as there is no parking on many of the town's streets. Be sure to pay attention to maps/signs that will show you where you can and cannot park. Vincent gave us good directions as to where to park, but it is YOUR responsibility to know where you can and can't park, not the hotel's.

This was our second stay at the Ambrosia, beautifully clean and tidy and excellent included breakfast. Vincent is always very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent for the town, Menin Gate etc and the surrounding areas for visiting the battlefields, war graves and museums.

Second time at this hotel, staff are fab and service is great. Can't fault anything! Lovely hotel and re-furbs have really made a difference. Really close to the market and lots of bars and lovely restaurants around, always something to do! Would really recommend this hotel and location, when we come back we will always choose this hotel.
Thanks for a great stay, we had such a great time...and even got to see the snow in Belgium!!

Room Tip: Every rooms has a character- all are lovely!
