“Inviting.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

Nice restaurant that is popular with the locals. Inviting on a cold March evening. We had the beef stew which was superb and beautifully presented too. Price was reasonable as well. Worth a visit if you are in Knokke.

“One of the few businesses in Knokke that attract customers both in summer and winter.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

The place is famous with the locals and that is because the price/quality ratio in this place is still very good, after all those years.
This is not a chic place, in fact, the interior sometimes makes my head spin but that is my own personal taste of course. Here they serve the typical Belgian dishes (the classics) with a few good suggestions.

The service is outstanding and fast, all waiters know their job, know the menu by heart and speak Flemish, English and French. On Sunday evening they sometimes show the football on TV and that can be pretty lively among the waiters who all support a different team. It's a family place so everything is done here is in good spirit and with a lot of humor.

I came in a few times this summer and so had the chance to try several meals.
They serve a burger 'Cap Nord' which is not bad but they should ask the clients how it should be cooked when ordered. Now it is cooked the same way (medium) for everyone. The burger is good but nothing special and definitely too small, I had expected more from a suggestion on the chalkboard, especially now that superb 'homemade burgerplaces' are popping up everywhere (even 500 meters away fom this place). The burger was served with a spicy sauce that came straight from a plastic bottle. The fries were too plain.

Another time I had the mussels who were nothing less than fantastic. People all over the country discuss about the fact mussels have become too expensive (25 euro for a medium portion) because this is still considered poor people's food but this dish was great. They go very well with a fresh beer. This is one of the few places where they still know how to serve a good beer. Knokke is full of would-be entrepreneurs who open a restaurant but have long forgotten about the basics. This place isn't one of them.

Last Sunday I had the shoulder piece of the Iberico pig which was extremely succulent, tasty and a great surprise because the shoulder isn't know for being the best part of the pig.

I wasn't sure about a three or four star rating for this restaurant but I gave it a four because I think Knokke needs more places like this, where they love what they are doing, know what they are doing and don't overcharge their clients for doing it.

“A good restaurant favored by the locals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

This has been in existence for a very long time and can be counted on to serve high quality traditional Belgian dishes. Try the Tomates Crevettes and the Fondus Parmesan. Whenever I arrive in Knokke this is the first place I go.

“good atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2011

Sunday evening sitting at bar with much beer and very good selection of nibbles. Decided to eat here after watching lovely food being served to lots of locals. Scampi with garlic - yum yum and biggest salade nicoise. Second night scampi again and beef flammande with the ubiquitous french fries and mayo. Also too much good house red!! Definitely would recommend - nice interior and good service
