A summer saturday evening brought us to this restaurant. At around 19:00 we had to wait 20 minutes for a table to become available. Lucky for us. Most of the other wanderers that came through the door during the evening were turned away. Consider booking in advance.

The personnel were friendly and swift. The food, prepared on the open grill, came out excellent. Portions, however, were on the small side and served with a rather generic salad and french fries.
Even though there was no direct pressure to hurry up, different courses were brought close upon each other.

Combine with high prices, served amounts on the sparse side and fast dish turnaround; the experience was not as balanced as expected.

We went to have dinner with 8 persons in total. 4 Adults and 4 children. We received immediately some help from the waiter explaining which meals could suit our children taste the best.
We had had several different meals: croquettes with shrimps, cheese, spaghetti, brochette (sate), porc ribs and salmon. All meals were delicious.
The adults took all a starter and main course, our children only a starter. As drinks we took some non alcoholic and some local beers. The bill was just below 180 euro, which is reasonable seen the nice location and good food (quality and quantity are perfect).
Nice place, one of the best in Ostende and probably still a bit unknown by most tourist.

A great bar and restaurant in the centre of Ostend. The mixed grill is highly recommended and the challenge is to finish it. Booking recommedned at weekends.

The decor of this place is absolutely beautiful, a big pub spread out over 2 floors, wood panelling, charcoal grill visible so you can watch the food being prepared. It gets quite busy so if you want to have a table, reservations are really essential; my wife and I had dinner there two times and saw people being turned away. The food (grilled seafood/fish and meats) is very good for a pub but comes at restaurant prices. I had the grilled prawns as a starter on one occasion, soup of the day on another. The prawns were cooked to perfection and really tasty but came at a hefty 7 euro or so for 4 pieces. Soup of the day was spinach soup, served with a miserly quantity of bread. The soup was indifferent. My mains was grilled monkfish with a potato (baked in the peel) and was really excellent although the potatoes were just a tad undercooked. My wife had the fish brochette (haddock and salmon) and a couple of pieces of fish were also a bit undercooked. Overall the food was very good but taking into consideration the price charged the conclusion is that there are probably better deals to be had. Tip: avoid the house wine; both the white and the red are not bad but certainly nothing outstanding either, given the price charged. If you want wine, better order one of the bottles of french white/red they have on offer.

Service was nothing special; staff are very busy and you can plainly see that you're just a number to them (which is always the case, of course, only in most places they hide it better).

Bottom line: excellent pub fare, too bad they charge restaurant prices.
