Well worth a look round while in Ostend. Like many of the churches in Belgium is is only a couple of hundred years old but has artwork and inter to admire.

We have seen many Churches on our visit and there is a lot to admire archectually, but I love the stained glass windows of Churches and this Church did not disappoint. A large circular window had me staring for many minutes it was awesome, but again I often wonder why so many of these towering monuments as so dark inside. Yes when they were built no electricity but they must have been very dark sombre places back in the day. The windows didn't let much light in, especially in our visit, it was too dark outside, but altough candles were lit not much light was shed around. Pity as they are truly glorious structures.

The church of St Peter and Paul's is a wonderful churches that is one of the most recognisable landmark sites in Ostend.
Although the church looks ancient it is in fact comparatively new,the original church burnt to the ground in1896 and the only original part of the church remaining is the Peperbusse Tower that said its still old but not as old as it looks.
The interior is free to go into and is beautiful with the stained glass windows looking particularly impressive.
The location could not be better being really close to the Main train station and in a square that has some great pub's, bar's and restaurants.
Very easy to locate on Prins Boundewijnstraat.

It's late Gothic Revival, built around 1910 after the previous church burned down. The design is a somewhat scaled-down copy of the Dom in Cologne, Germany, but can also be compared to St. Patrick's cathedral in New York City. Well done decoration and architectural detailing is somewhat generic, which is inevitable in an early-20th Century Gothic Revival church. Worthwhile.
