“Good food at reasonable prices with cosy atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

This pub/restaurant was on a list of excellent recommendations given to us by our local B&B owner - we were looking for dinner without a reservation in the Christmas rush and after looking at several mediocre and expensive places neat the train station came upon De Stoepa. It has a lovely warm cosy atmosphere, with fire and nice blend of Asian inspired and traditional low-ceilinged decor. The waiter made an effort to find us a place at the end of a large table which had two people already seated - menus were in Flemish but the waitress took the time to translate and explain the dishes, and the choice was very good, and notably reasonable in terms of price. The terrace looked like it would be lovely in summer. We returned for lunch on our last day and again were impressed with the food - beautiful fish soup with bread and a selection of accompaniments for €6.50. It was the traditional St Nicholas celebration when presents are exchanged, and we were each given a lovely sweet orange for our journey. Lovely!

Perfect to drink biers and eat some snacks! Very good service and full of local people! We tasted a straffe hendrick tripel and it was outstanding!

“Lovely place”

On our visit to Bruges we were taken to De Stoepa by my sister who, although lives in England is pretty much a 'regular' at De Stoepa! I am not surprised. The food is delicious, drinks are fairly priced - do try the fruit beer, it is gorgeous. Staff are so friendly, especially Ellie.

You must book a table if you want to eat here and can sit inside only if you are eating. If not eating you can sit at the bar to drink or outside which has plenty of heaters and atmosphere so it's no problem being outdoors..

De Stoepa is a little (maybe 5 mins walk) outside the main areas but is so worth a visit and I can't recomment it highly enough.

“Ideal little hideaway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

On the way back to our hotel in the evening (which is near the train station) we would stop of here for a drink, very cosy place, full of friendly locals as its out of town. The drinks menu was fairly easy to make out. The day after we came here in the day to have a coffee, staff were polite and friendly and spoke well English. Definitely a great little find and would like to try the food next time.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

This is a place full of locals and, in my opinion, a "safe harbour" away from the tourist traps. I always go there straight from the train station! Delicious food, fair prices, OK service and beautiful restaurant that is cozy inside but that has a lovely picturesque terrasse for good weather days.
