This pub/restaurant was on a list of excellent recommendations given to us by our local B&B owner - we were looking for dinner without a reservation in the Christmas rush and after looking at several mediocre and expensive places neat the train station came upon De Stoepa. It has a lovely warm cosy atmosphere, with fire and nice blend of Asian inspired and traditional low-ceilinged decor. The waiter made an effort to find us a place at the end of a large table which had two people already seated - menus were in Flemish but the waitress took the time to translate and explain the dishes, and the choice was very good, and notably reasonable in terms of price. The terrace looked like it would be lovely in summer. We returned for lunch on our last day and again were impressed with the food - beautiful fish soup with bread and a selection of accompaniments for €6.50. It was the traditional St Nicholas celebration when presents are exchanged, and we were each given a lovely sweet orange for our journey. Lovely!
