We chose this restaurant for a special occasion, and were not disappointed. Selecting the "suggestion" menu, we were thrilled by the quality and finesse of the food and accompanying wines (poured very generously). The peaceful but cosy atmosphere added to our pleasure, as did the quiet friendliness of Erica who served us. We could not recommend de Stove too highly, and would happily go to great lengths to return.

We booked ahead by asking our host to call for us as we read such good reviews on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed. We went for the recommended menu with wine which was EUR62 each. The first course was a delicious soup followed by some traditional white asparagus. The main was perfectly cooked lamb and dessert was a four dessert mini platter and it was very tasty. The wine was all lovely and perfectly matched the meal. The wine portions were generous as the server topped up your glass frequently. Numbers are restricted as the owner/ server is the only waitress. At times you do wait slightly longer than normal but you can always see her and re service was very attentive. Our only complaint is that they wouldn't give us tap water and we had to buy quite expensive bottled water. Given how much we were spending, a carafe of tap water would have been a reasonable gesture. However, this didn't ruin the evening and we would still recommend this restaurant to visitors to Bruges.

This is a very small, low key but most attractive place. No more than 20 covers, and not full, but turning people away while we ate. It is closed mid week, so you need to book ahead and choose your night. Most of our fellow diners, all of whom were visitors, seemed to be eating meat, although the place has a reputation for its fish. We chose fish and were highly delighted. Shrimp soup was full flavored and delicious. The Flemish bouillabaisse came in a huge pot, plenty for two, with lots of delicious fish and shellfish in a tasty broth. The turbot main was beautifully cooked and very delicate in flavour. The wine list is short but attractive, and, as seems usual in Belgium, very reasonably priced. I do however object to the annoying Belgian practice of refusing to supply me with tap water, and charging me for a bottle. We shared a desert of chocolate "tart" which was more a flourless cake, and delicious with an orange sorbet. Service was unobtrusive, but, another Belgian problem it seems, rather slow. 16 diners, but half an hour for the starter and another half hour for the mains. Be prepared, and be patient. It is well worth the wait. Highly recommended.

Small family run restaurant with less than 30 covers. Warm welcome, great food, advice given when sought but not at all intrusive - all very relaxing and enjoyable. We did get off to quite a slow start which wouldn't suit everyone; but if you enjoy top quality food in relaxing surroundings then do try it.
The worst part of the evening was all the people coming in on the off chance and being turned away.

With a small number of covers the service personal and friendly and the food and wine on the set menu complemented each other well. This was our second visit and we will definitely be returning.
