“Top quality restaurant in Bruges”
Reviewed May 8, 2014 via mobile

Went here with the family at Easter as recommended by a friend. We were not disappointed. Great menu, wine list, intimate setting and service. The scallops and king prawn starters were amazing as was the rump of lamb as a main course. Will return.

“Perfect Anniversary meal!”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

I did a lot of research on Restaurants in Bruges, prior to our stay, as it was very important to make the correct choice, for our 30th wedding anniversary meal. I eventually discovered De Stove, in The Lonely Planet, travel book & then checked on Tripadvisor (of course) & with all the excellent reviews, it seemed perfect. I emailed to reserve a table, explaining it was for our special anniversary, within a day or 2, the table was booked! So pleased we had booked, as it's not very big & people were being turned away all evening.
The weather was dreadful, as we made our way to De Stove, but we soon forgot about that, as as we were warmly welcomed by Erica, to our "romantic table", the most private table in the room. The atmosphere was relaxed, with classical music in the background. We decided to have the "Suggestion Menu", which is a 4 course meal, 1 choice of set menu, which changes monthly, I think, which has to be chosen by the whole table; with a choice of food only, or with the chosen wines with every course. At 65 euros for the pairing wines, we decided that seemed a good option! We were so pleased we did, the wine was very good & complimented each course perfectly. The first glass, was poured before the food arrived, so there was no need for an aperitif & our glasses were topped up regularly, with 3 different wines in all. Each course was beautifully presented & delicious, bursting with flavour. Erica gave us a detailed description of each course & the wine which complied it. When the pudding arrived we were greatly surprised by the fireworks blazing in the centre of the beautiful creation, to wish us a happy anniversary!
We were the last to leave the restaurant & were able to meet Erica's husband Gino, the Chef, & thanked them both for the delicious meal & wonderful evening!
This is fine dining, not cheap, but for Bruges prices, well worth every Euro.

“Charming restaurant and wonderful hosts”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

We had a lovely meal here - a complete delight after some of the other food and service we had had in Bruges. Great food and good portions. The owner couldn't give us a half bottle of wine so said she would pour us a half from a bottle - she could not have been more kind and welcoming! Thank you so much for a wonderful evening

“Book in advance for this local welcoming restaurant.”
Reviewed May 3, 2014 via mobile

We started off with the shrimp bisque: It was lovely and the shrimps were very tasty. We also had a selection of starters including beef carpaccio which was a big hit. Steaks, lamb and duck were perfectly cooked. The woman who served us was very welcoming and looked after us very well. Do try the Belgian Owl and Japanese whiskey. Don't do as two of our party did and eat the table decoration. It isn't samphire. (We did tell them!)

“First class food and service”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

The best restaurant in Brugge. This was our 2nd visit and we all loved loved. The food is cooked fresh and is top quality. Good number of choices on the menu and the wine list is reasonably prices. I had sea bass which was 1st class, beautifully cooked as was the cod my husband had. Friends had lamb which was melt in the mouth. We all (4 of us) had 3 courses, with 3 bottles of wine and coffees for just over 300e - well worth it. The service is excellent and friendly and you are not rushed - you have the table for the night. Its a small restaurant with about 6/8 tables and is like sitting in a lovely home dining room. It is very popular and if you don'y want to be disappointed (as we were on visit) its best to book.
