Boutique style property with international 5* standards of decor. Great location - right in the middle of the town centre. Service friendly but not amazing although check in staff were excellent. Note - Bar closes at 1am sharp!

Room Tip: Tey and get a room overlooking the front of the hotel

The Dukes Palace provided us with a truly memorable stay. Wonderful breakfasts, with very helpful staff. On arrival, we requested a room with a bath, and also a garden view and despite been busy, the staff made this possible. The lovely indoor pool and gardens help you relax and enjoy the whole Kempinski experience. Price reflects the 5* tag. The hotel is based in the city centre, walking distance to the canal, the Burg and square. Quite an experience!

The Kempinski Hotel Duke's Place in Bruges/Brügge

While the Hotel and the rooms are first class, we found the personnel at the reception young and inexperienced. No one knew what they were doing.
They woke us up three times for an appointment that wasn't ours, and a wake call that was someone else's :-(
They didn't even have a list of the Fine Dining Guide in town, (we gave them one we obtained in town ourselves) which has more restaurants with Michelin Star quality than any other town in Europe. Their specific recommendation for gastronomic dining in town was so bad, we paid and left, the food was discusting.
We found the hotel restaurant too pricey and preferred to eat in town, i.e. the Michelin Star restaurants 'Den Gouden Harynck' or ''t Pandreitje', cheaper and equally outstanding.
The only good thing about this hotel is their breakfast, the rest needs lots of improvement.

Wow.. What a great hotel. We stayed in the Palace on the fourth floor and had a marvelous room with a fantastic corner view of two parts of the city. This great old palace has been updated to a modern yet classically designed hotel. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel is centrally located and an easy walk to the center square, the canals and great restaurants. The hotel may seem a little pricey but it worth the money and more!

Bruges is an unexpected surprise to find a little bit of Venice in Belgium. The town square is a time machine. The great church tower and the climb to the top is well worth the effort and the small fee. You can see for miles and get a bird's eye view of the old town. The Belgium chocolate, the coffee and the pastries are out of this world.

Room Tip: Ask for the upper floors and a corner room.

We chose the Dukes Palace from reviews on trip advisor. We had just completed a five day cruise on the Rhine and were so looking forward to a five star experience of space, comfort and spacious bathroom. We had a friendly welcome and were upgraded to a garden facing room with all the above expectations. The position is great in that a short walk get you to the centre square. I would prefer to be closer to the waterways next visit. We also would have appreciated morning coffee to be included in the price as they do not offer the facilities to make your own in the room. We did order and pay for it. It was beautifully presented. The gardens are lovely.

Room Tip: Request garden facing!

We visited this hotel to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The trip was booked several months in advance, and when booking, we asked if we could have one of the nicer rooms with a good view, as the trip was our 1st time to Bruges, and we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. We were exicted to arrive at the hotel, as it looked lovely from the outside, and all public areas were beautiful. We were shown to our room after checking in, and we were initally impressed. The room was a good size, modern and very clean. However, we were extremely disappointed to have been given a room with a view of a brick wall! We did ask if we could move, as we had made a special request months in advance, of a room with a decent view, but no surprise to be told that the hotel was actually fully booked and this wasn't possible! We had no choice but to stay put, and accepted this as the room was nice. We had to keep the curtains constantly shut, because the view was so depressing! Bruges is lovely, the hotel is in a great location, and we enjoyed our experience. There were however a few problems we noticed in the room after staying for 3 nights. It is true what people say - the air conditioning is awful - non existant. Woke up constantly in the early hours, baking hot, even though the air con was supposedly on. We complained, and were given a fan for the room, which resolved the problem. The shower was awful. It had 2 temperatures - freezing cold or boiling hot - no inbetween. Our room was noisy, as outside of the window, was an adjacent building roof (the brick wall) and the owners dogs would be here yapping from the early hours! Apart from this, the hotel was good. These things need tweaking, as does the attitude of some of the concierge/reception staff. We did feel that some were quite stuck up, pretentious and looked down their nose at us. It was a shame as the trip was great, and the hotel mostly gorgeous - just needs a bit of a shake up!

Room Tip: don't bother asking - as they don't listen to requests! Try not to have the back rooms which...
