Description: The Restaurant Patrick Devos is housed in a historic building in the heart of Bruges. According to earliest sources available, dating from around the year 1300, the house was a refuge of the Ghent-based Saint Peter's Abbey. Behind the beautiful late-Gothic facades one discovers authentic Art Nouveau and Art Deco salons from 1900-1935, something which is unique for Bruges. The Art Deco dining room was completely designed by the renowned Ateliers d'Art de Courtrai De Coene Freres. Adjacent to it is a breathtaking Louis XVI salon. Behind the house the intimate winter garden can be found dating from the early 1900's and laid out in an Arts and Crafts style. These treasures of the interior arts form the setting for your gastronomic experience in Bruges. The Restaurant Patrick Devos serves seasonal dishes which stand out for their inventiveness, attractive presentation and harmonic blend of tastes. An exceptional method is used to compose the menus: first the wines are selected, and then a matching dish is created for each wine. Patrick Devos thus succeeds in achieving an optimal harmony between the wine and the meal. Patrick Devos has already won two awards for his carefully developed wine cellar, primarily stocked with New World wines. In 2000 he was named Wine Ambassador of the Year.

“Eager to please”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2009

The restaurant is a little hard to find, located in a nondescript building with just a small sign. Luckily we arrived as one of the chefs was bicycling to work and she was able to let us in. The adorably upbeat waiter spoke marginally good English but was very eager to please and tried his best to make sure he understood our requests. We tried the taster menu and everything was delicious. The lobster was especially enticing. The dining room overlooks a cute patio covered with green foliage and makes you feel as if you're dining in a wealthy friend's backyard. Well worth the hike to get there! Note to American travelers used to eating dinner early... they don't open until 7pm and even at that time we were the only diners for about an hour. Fantastic wine selection as well!

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2009

We went for lunch during the week to try and end our trip to Bruges on a high note after a couple of disappointments. We enjoyed the almost private dining experience, as there was only another table of four in.

We chose the taster menu with matching wines and enjoyed both. Both the food and service were excellent as we were allowed to enjoy the meal in the wonderful art deco surroundings at our own pace.

We would certainly go back if we get the chance.

“A True Delight - an experience to be shared.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2008

Visited in June 2008 - absolutely fantastic experience, a real treat, and one to remember for a long time! Townhouse setting in a quiet backstreet off the main shopping area. Luxurious decor, large rooms beautiful decorated - chandeliers, large fireplaces, few tables widely spaced, outside garden area. Choice of three menus - you must choose one menu per table, not exactly a hardship with such a wonderful selection. Discreet service. As a very rare treat, we chose the 5-course menu with different selected wines per course. (Fortunately we did not eat too much during the day!) Taking at a very leisurely pace, each course and wine was described by the staff. Go .... and enjoy, as we did!
