My wife and I spent three very comfortable nights in the aptly named Hotel Charming Brugge. Christoph was friendly and very helpful, a source of much needed local information and tips, delivered with a generous dash of humour-whilst his wife Els supplied delicious breakfasts in between keeping their impressive house immaculately clean. Bruges central was a delight and no more than a 10 - 12 minute stroll away from the house. The whole experience could not have been bettered.

Room Tip: From what we saw there wasn't a 'bad room'.

We just loved our stay at Charming Brugge!
Superbe host, friendly but not to pushy. Beautifull rooms and an excellent bottle of bubbles.
We enjoyed a nice hot bath in a tastfully decorated bathroom. We got some good tips to visit some restaurant in Bruges, we tried it and indeed the restaurant was very very good. We didn't stay to long because we wanted to enjoy our beautiful rooms some more :) ! Did we know there was yet to come. We had a "breakfast deluxe" , wich was perfect! Nice toast, some good eggs, yummie smoothie, a slice of pie, hmmmm the rest of the day we were in heaven ! Charming Brugge we love you and we will be back soon ;)

First the good bits: The house is lovely, very beautifully furnished for the most part. And the owners are courteous.

The not so good bits:
The house is lovely, yes, but it's located well outside the centre of town (where everything nice and pretty in Bruges is) - it is in fact located on a busy, noisy main road which has fast moving traffic all day and night, but hardly any people! The town centre is a good 15 minute walk away, and so are any views, decent cafes, restaurants and shops.
Yes, the house is lovely, except the white room (which is what we unfortunately booked), which is tiny, sparse, cold, has broken and lumpy euro shams instead of proper pillows, heating that doesn't work, windows that don't insulate, no carpeting, rough thin towels and bare floors.
There is half a carafe of water in your room, no coffee or tea making facilities and no source of additional water - neither in the room, nor in the common areas, and the host sternly instructs you not to enter the kitchen while "welcoming" you. Add this to the fact that as per the house rules, you're not allowed "personal food or drink" in the rooms! The breakfast is served at 9.30 (10am on Christmas day) - no sooner, no later - and if you miss it, you get a dry shrug from the host. Sounds like prison? It felt like that. The owners are courteous, but completely lack any hospitality, cheer or warmth. And so we checked out the morning after we arrived, and moved into the Crowne Plaza overlooking the Burg - five star comfort, beautiful rooms, extremely hospitable service and all the loveliness of Burg at our doorstep - for exactly the SAME price as this B&B!

I'm sorry you didn't read our website in detail before your booking. There is a google map link that indicates our location. On the first page in our introduction it is mentioned that we are at 15 minutes walk from the middle point of Brugge. Yes, 'the middle point of that circle', the town centre is 1 minute away (Brugge is more and bigger than the Burg and the Market You have booked the smallest room (cheapest price), you could choose a junior suite too which was available at that time! Why didn't you ask for an upgrade anyway? Heating does work, what a lie! Nobody else complained, you even texted me that it worked after i checked it! As i explained that night it is a modular system that starts up when a certain low temperature is reached (at night 22°C). All windows are renovated in 2007 with double insulating glass, maybe you didn't close it properly. There is no carpeting, to show the nice old wooden floor and to get the best hygiene. The white room is not noisy at all, it has garden view at the back of the house.
In the common areas there is an honesty bar, with lots of drinks, you couldn't miss. You could ask for coffee or tea, as mentioned, but didn't ask for it. We like to serve people, we don't support self-catering, that is why we point out to guests that our private kitchen is private (we live in this house, it is not a 'hotel'). I don't think you have used the kitchen in other hotels too? About breakfast, you arrived downstairs at 11.45am and didn't even excuse yourself being so late or overslept or whatever, you just smiled and said yourself that you thought you were too late for breakfast. In belgium, 12.00am is lunchtime, not breakfast. I know that in most hotels you also have to check out at 11:00am, so breakfast is limited too, like in every hotel or B&B in the world. I have checked Crown Plaza, the cheapest room available at this moment as i'm writing is almost double price than the white room, maybe you have got a last-minute discount. About the cheer and warmth, check out all other reviews.

I booked this B&B for my brother in law’s 50th and we wanted it to be special - it did not disappoint! It was actually better than the photos!
The reception on arrival was incredibly friendly, and we were given a quick overview to Brugge, Christoph listened to what we were interested in and tailor-made a few suggestions for us which we did and loved! The rooms were gorgeous, elegant and stylish. They have both have excellent taste and this is just shown through the entire house. The breakfast area was just beautiful, and you get a real sense of family being there, the breakfast was gorgeous!
I can’t rate this B&B highly enough!

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely and quiet - perfect!

My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend, and were absolutely delighted we'd found such an amazing B&B. The house is truly beautiful, and the rooms are designed to make city breaks a pleasure.

The hosts were great, and honest in their appraisal of Brugge (which is rare), they told us which bits were tourist traps and which were the more 'undiscovered' areas.

Breakfast was incredible, and freshly prepared every morning, with at least one little 'treat' which had been made by the couple - like my favourite the Pear and Chocolate cake.

We came away feeling we'd found a little gem, and will be returning one day soon.
