Needed a few days away so came up with the idea of revisiting Brugges with the family. Dover to Calais ferry and then an easy sat-nav guided drive to the hotel. The welcome was warm but the rooms weren't (until I turned the radiator on). The rooms were simple to put it mildly and the view of the street rather than the canal was pretty uninspiring for €200 per night. We did however get an adjoining room with a bunk bed for the kids so plenty of room for everyone. We set off to explore in the rain - spirits were low and my reputation for booking dodgy holidays was going to be reaffirmed. Was this really the place where I had such a good time in my early years? The turning point was the Habit restaurant. Great beer and food brightened the mood and we retired to the small bar back at the hotel for a game of cards.
Next day better weather and Brugges has come alive. A horse-drawn carriage trip, diamond museum, canal boat ride, sweet making, chocolate buying, modelrailway and a harp concert - my stock was going up. I reduced our booking to just two nights deciding to go for quality rather than
push my luck.
The hotel is fine, is in a good location near to the main squares and the breakfast is good. I just think it doesn't have enough if the weather is poor which is fine for a honeymooning couple but not for a family with young kids. The owner was kind enough to let us off the last night without holding out for payment. Will do the dolphins tomorrow and spend a night in France.

Room Tip: Check if a canal view room is available! Will make the difference.

We stayed at the Walwyck for 3 nights in April. Centrally located near the market square but still peaceful and situated by a lovely canal.
Room was light and airy with a large comfy bed. Shower was pretty good although a bit open plan which is ok for couples but maybe not for friends. Only complaint, the toilet light didn't work and although we mentioned it to reception it was never changed.
Breakfast was good, nice coffee and all the usual continental foods.
Would be happy to stay here again if in Bruges again.

This hotel is a great choice - lovely location on one of Bruge's canals and very close to the market square. It is surrounded by nice little shops, cafes and restaurants and the nearby houses make it very picturesque. Breakfast is great and included, as is Internet. Staff are outstanding - really helpful and know the city very well. Overall a really pleasant stay...

This hotel is okay, and certainly served the purpose for our family of four (2 kids, aged 10 & 12). We did not expect to spend much time in the room, and spent most of our time exploring the city. Parking was a disaster to find upon check-in. Plus, there was no where to pull up to the hotel to ask for directions to some parking.
Staff is friendly and helpful upon check in.
No elevator, which is fine, but you have to navigate up and down some seriously STEEP stairs.
Our room was the Superior Family room, and we had some high expectations from the website photos. Our room was actually two small (typically European) rooms together. Both rooms had walls that looked like there had been a wrestling match there - desperately in need of a paint job. Very shabby looking, and I'm not exaggerating! And, typical of Europe, no where to set bags open except on the bed.
Kids room had bunk beds. Their room had a very tiny, dark, cramped shower in the bathroom, and ours had a very large bathtub only.
Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am, and has a nice selection. If you are a coffee lover as I am, you will be disappointed to learn that you are given one coffee and that's it. I suppose I could have tracked down the host to ask for more, but she was often not seen unless a new guest arrived to eat.
Hotel rooms are not sound proof at all, and so the sound echoed throughout the hotel... Not very quiet really.
No hair dryer ... Not a big deal if you have short hair, but if you have long hair like me, you want dry hair before you go out in the cold air!
Overall, a good location to the main part of the city, and seemingly very clean.

Charm. Its something all hotels want.

Granted, we only stayed for a night, but this hotel has been a highlight of my nights in Europe. The hostess/owner welcomed us with a map and monuments based on our interests, without us having to ask. The rooms were well appointed and well decorated, everything was as it should be; this hotel does the basics right. It is on a quiet street, not far from the market. I was pleasantly suprised that the breakfast was included, and true to its character, the food was simple, yet good, while the owner made us coffee or tea upon request.

If you are a traveler who expects hotels to entertain and dazzle you, then maybe this place is not for you. If you like to see the owners working to give you the best service at a reasonable price, I highly recommend this establishment. I just wish there was an easier way to find gems like this. I will be back.

A very clean, comfortable bed & breakfast hotel very close to the market square in the centre of old Brugge. The owners were very friendly and provided excellent advice to make the short walk to all key attractions easy. A generous continental buffet breakfast provided a great start to each day. Free WiFi access was a bonus enabling use of Trip Advisor for restaurants and attractions. Only downside were rooms on second and third floors can only accessed by very steep and narrow stairs - not suitable for anyone with mobility limitations. All in all a great place to stay when visiting the beautiful and historic Brugge.

stayed here with a group of 4 friends in december 2012. The location of the hotel is perfect and just a short 5 minute walk to the eiermarkt and market square.
Breakfast is also included in the price which is an added bonus.
An underground car park is located just around the corner which is very handy. It cist us 18 euros for 2 nights and 2 days.
