“Worth it for the view.”
Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

We visit a lot of breweries when we travel so at first we thought just another brewery but our guide put so much personality into her presentation it was so fun to listen to her. But the view from the rooftop was all worth the price. Free beer at the end was very good.

“Not the best belgian brewery visit”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

Being resident in Belgium, we have the time to visit various breweries and I would rather recommend "Het Hanker" in Mechelen/Malines. What you see in De Halve Maan is 10% production, 70% museum, 20% bar/restaurant for tourists. The main production process is made elsewhere.
If you have little time in Belgium and/or have no car, the brewery is worth visiting. It is of easy reach within the town center and the architecture, the machinery and the beer are worth spending 45 minutes and 7,5 €.
However after the visit, you have no choice: you can only taste the blond beer. Additionaly we bought some cheese (big slice of old Brugge cheese) for 7€ which was fine. However, if you want bread, it is 2€ extra = abusive.
ACCESSIVILITY: the 220 stairs of the visit are sometimes VERY steep. It can be tricky with kids below 3 years or for elderly people.

“Maggie was a great guide!”
Reviewed May 7, 2014 via mobile

Our first stop in our stay in Bruges was to tour the De Halve Maan Brewery. Maggie, our English speaking guide, was fantastic! She was entertaining, informative, and put up with all of my husband's questions about brewing (heck, she welcomed his questions!) Some tours are only worth the drink at the end, but this was not like that. Great tour, great beer at the end!!

“Adorable little brewery with a lot of passion for what they're doing!”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

A fun, relaxed and interesting guided tour of this little family run brewery. Highly recommend a visit as it's a more personal and charming brewery than most. Our tour guide was witty and fun and we laughed a lot. At the end you get a beer. Excellent!

“Very amusing guide and good food afterwards”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

Very interesting visit. Our guide should have been a stand-up comedienne. She was a hoot. I found all, the stairs a bit hard going but then what else should I expect aged 80. Our party had a gala dinner after the tour. I had no complaints although one table did not get a main course as they ran out of food. Very bad planning by somebody.
