For my wife and I the Brugge-man B&B was simply perfect. It was the concluding leg of our European tour so we had many previous accommodations with which to compare—including 4-star hotels and a range of other B&Bs. For us, the Brugge-man B&B topped the lot.

We stayed for two nights and it was a delight. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our hosts Patrick & Magda who immediately put us at ease with their friendly and welcoming manner. After our brief introductions we were invited to their fabulous garden where we were served with a large glass of Sangria which was simply overflowing with a variety of fresh fruit—just the tonic after a long and somewhat exhausting drive. Whilst we sat enjoying our Sangria, Patrick explained to us the layout of Brugge, a brief but very informative history of the city, city taxes, issues with driving in Brugge city and advice on parking in the city if we were to use the car, the must do’s, the main places of interest, the best walking routes to places of interest and how to effectively navigate around the city to maximise our available time etc., and, of course, how to find our way back to the B&B by providing a map with the route from the old city highlighted.

Our room (Justine’s room) was spacious and airy, immaculately clean and included a shower and wash-hand basin. There was more than enough storage space and plenty of spare linen, pillows, towels, hair drier etc., if required. There was also a larger than usual flat screen TV.

The breakfast was marvellous and his boiled eggs were cooked to perfection—Patrick assured me they were the best eggs in all of Brugge, laid by his very own chickens. Who was I to disagree! It was a pleasure to dine with the other couple who were guests from Germany. Sometimes dining with strangers from another country creates a slight discomfort, particularly if you’re not fluent in each other’s language. However, this was not the case as Patrick, being multi-lingual and a vastly experienced hotelier tastefully helped us engage in suitably harmonious conversation putting both us and the other couple immediately at ease with each other.

In sum, I could not fault it and can highly recommend it if you’re looking for homely charm perfectly balanced with sophisticated refinement in wonderful surroundings. It’s just a pity we did not have more time to spend there but if ever again my wife and I venture to Brugge it will be to the Brugge-man B&B where we will seek to be guests.

Very comfortable and well appointed accommodation with delectable breakfast perfect for days exploring the wonderful city of Bruges. The warm, welcoming, helpful and informative hosts are really the highlight though! Very highly recommended, particularly for a quiet, peaceful location with family atmosphere and to benefit from local knowledge and experience.

This year I was (we were) the fourth time at Patrick & Martha. What can I say .... we felt like at home. A warm atmosphere, a fantastic breakfast. Valuable advice on excursions and restoration in Bruges. We would only stay longer. We will definitely be back and look forward to it already. Achim Heinrichs-Heger, Königswinter (Germany)

We recently had a five night stay at Brugge-man B&B. This allowed us time to explore the museums, architecture and canals of Brugges, plus easy day trips to Ghent (half hour train trip) and Brussells (one hour). Brugges also has an active music scene, including a Concertgebouw (concert hall) and university Conservatorium, so evening concerts are possible. Other travelers also hired pushbikes for a day and explored the local countryside.
Everything you read about this B&B is accurate, including the gracious hospitality of the hosts. It's a 15 min easy walk to the train station and pleasant 20 mins to the CBD; Patrick gives a very helpful and informative introduction to this UNESCO-listed city and is readily available to help with travel advice or ideas; the rooms are spacious, immaculate and equipped with antique furniture; the garden is a sight to behold each day; you will enjoy convivial conversation with fellow travelers over breakfasts, which truly are fit for kings! Thanks so much for your kind hospitality Magda and Patrick, we enjoyed our stay very much, Gill & Michael, Australia.

Room Tip: This is a quiet suburban area, a sound sleep is assured.

Patrick, Magda and their house were amazing!!! When my husband and I first arrived, he greeted us with sangria and gave us a little bit of information about the city. He had recommendations for what to do, where to eat, where NOT to eat, etc. We stayed in "Justin's room" and it was extremely cozy. We even had a shower right in the room! The breakfast in the morning was absolutely perfect and delicious. We didn't have to eat again until dinner time. Patrick made this stay a memorable one. If we ever come back to Brugge, we will definitely stay here again!
