I've just read the Bonobo reviews, as we plan another stay there next June. Both my husband and myself have already stayed there three times, the first we had the B and B formula, the other two the self-catering apartment- as one of the reviews points out, one way of lessening the cost in this beautiful but also very expensive town! This way, it is possible to mix going out and staying in.
Fully agree with all that is said about the cleanliness, the kindness of Hans and Magda, the location in this quiet street yet two minutes away, through the courtyard of St Jan's Hospital, from the canals and bustling streets. We actually went in 2009 and before, but your form doesn't let me enter this!
We look forward to going back there next year, this time with family!

We booked a small apartment at the Bonobo based on the positive Trip Advisor reviews. Rather than go into detail, I'll just confirm that the excellent reviews are well deserved. We requested a cot for our 4 month old baby which was in the room when we arrived. We were also given a ground floor room which helped with access. The hotel is very close to the main sights which meant we could come and go as we pleased, a great help when travelling with a young child.

Room Tip: Even though we went for the smallest apartment, there was ample room for two adults and a child.

I booked this place on tripadvisors reviews. The place has helpful staff and is ideally situated in the heart of Bruges. My father and I hired a car as we were doing a tour of local battlefields and this hotel had great secure parking which was very handy. We didn't have the breakfast and instead made our own utilising the kitchenette in the room. My father is gonna book again, taking his partner to see the local sights.

Had the most brilliant time here, it's all very simple and clean and has everything you will need. The owners where away on holiday when we arrived but their lovely assistant was there to meet us, there is is a great on site secure car park where we put our motorbike is was extra for this but well worth it. We had a self catering apartment as it can be expensive to eat out, there is no oven so you will have to cook on the stove top. There are places to get take outs too and some of the areas just out side the main squares are alot cheaper if you are on a tight budget. We did treat ourselves to coffee and waffles in a gorgeous little tea shop which were to die for but cost about £26! But back to the hotel apartment, we were on the ground floor and had our own little table outside, inside is a little kitchen and leather sofa tv etc, a nice clean bathroom with lots of little extras little shower gel and stuff. The beds are comfy but they are not double you will get two single beds snuggled up close to each other. It's very "ikea" plain and simple :-) The location is the best part just walk out and you get get just about anywhere within minutes, try a boatbtrip to get your self familiar then just enjoy walking round is so beautiful and like a postcard everywhere you look! Have some frites with mayonnaise try a waffle with strawberries and cream and definitely try a Belgian beer in it's own unique glass and of course some yummy chocolate.....we also walked out to the windmills and took a paddle boat to damme and saw herons stalks and cormorants can't wait to retun, thank you for a brilliant place to use as our base :-)

The location of the wonderfully quirky Bonobo could hardly be better for anyone wanting to explore Bruges. It's so central - literally five minutes walk away from most of the top attractions - yet down a relative backstreet which means you don't have hordes of people tramping past or noisy traffic rumbling over the cobbles. We took advantage of their self-catering appartment option, which was great value at 73 euros a night for a large, clean, well-equipped suite with a kitchen/living room, bathroom with excellent power-shower and a bedroom in which two singles had been pushed together to make a king-sized double. Self catering helped us to keep check on spending in this VERY expensive city with one meal a day (as well as some of our take home shopping) courtesy of the nearby mini Carrefour store. Hans and Magda were very welcoming hosts, offering plenty of advice and use of their collection of guidebooks and maps. From the private car park all of Bruges' main 'Three Towers' are visible with St Saviour's Cathedral filling the skyline from our groundfloor window. The one potential disadvantage of this is that St Saviour's and the Church of Our Lady (which is reached through a handy adjacent short-cut through Old St John's Hospital next door to the hotel) both have very loud bells, with those of the cathedral tolling for long spells in the morning and evening. However, there are shutters which you are able to lower if you're trying to hear the TV! We found the hotel a wonderful bolt hole whenever we needed a breather from the relentless tide of tourists (and yes, I know that includes us!), or even just a penny spend or change of clothes. Apart from for the cool, quiet of our rooms there is a lovely, shady terrace at the back for a complete escape from the crowds. Incredibly, given the maze of tiny one-way streets it sits among, the travel instructions took us straight to the door (though left to our own devices we didn't do so well finding our way out). Strongly recomended!
