Tastefull decoration, good location, the owners are very helpful and friendly, delicious breakfast. There is no door in the shower so the bathroom can get a little wet but it's no big deal and a hair dryer would've been useful. Would definately stay there again and recommend to friends.

I was very lucky to get upgraded to a nicer double, so I don't know what the standard doubles are like. But our room was perfect, spacious and clean. Fleur was really nice, and the breakfast was a good continental. About 30 minutes walk from the train station, so a pretty good location as well.

It is a nice old building in the center of Bruges. The owner was very welcoming when we arrived and explained us where we can go and which restaurants and bars are best. We got an upgrade for free on our room and moved into a bigger room than the room we booked. Breakfast was awesome and the service there was really friendly. Rooms are ok, of course they are old and partly a bit run-down but all in all it was fine and the bed was comfortable.

Stayed here for 3 nights over new year with my girlfriend.
It's a really lovely place that in some ways feels more like a guest house than a hotel, as the owners are often around, giving it their personal touch.
The room was clean, the included breakfast is excellent and really sets you up for the day, and the extra effort the owners made for new year really added to our overall experience of Bruges. This included food and champagne for guests on new years eve and a superb new years day brunch buffet in place of the breakfast, with the added bonus that it was on from 10.30-1.30 to allow a lovely new years day lie in!
Location is great, on the edge of the historic centre which means you are in the historic centre but away from the immediate hustle and bustle and tourist stuff of the main square, (about 10 mins walk away).
I would 100% recommend this place - and honestly, taking into account price compared to other hotels, location, food and all the rest I'd struggle to find anything to complain about.

We recently spent 3 nights at Hotel Gulden Vlies in Bruges. For the price we paid per night which included a very decent breakfast we were very pleased overall with the hotel. The room we staying in was small and the bathroom tiny but we expected this as per the description on their webpage and the cost. The continental breakfast served each morning was great and all staff were very friendly and helpful with travel/ restaurant suggestions. The hotel is located about 10-15 walk to the old town centre so is in a fantastic location. My only criticism was that as we were on the top floor the wi-fi connection was very weak to non-existent. Overall I would highly recommend Hotel Gulden Vlies for a budget accommodation option. We hope to be back again some day.

My wife and I spent three nights at this hotel in December '13, and were delighted with our stay. The hotel is well situated--just about a 10 minute walk to the city centre--with easy free parking nearby. The hotel itself is charming--particularly the breakfast room--and our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. But for us what really made this a pleasant visit was the welcome of the two owners. Both very friendly and helpful, offering plenty of suggestions of things to visit in Bruges and the surrounding area.
We recommend this hotel without reservation.
