We spent three nights in May 2009 at this amazing B&B. We had been reluctant to stay in a B&B because we like our privacy and thought we might feel claustrophobic. But we were drawn in by the beautiful web site and the kindness of the owner, Caroline. We were visiting Bruges for the first time so had some questions which she answered patiently and thoroughly. She is knowledgeable, kind, and generous with her time. We cannot say enough about her and Henk (and their dogs Fidele and Molly).

We stayed in Clin d'Oeil, a very spacious and light-filled room on the second floor, overlooking the inviting garden and the canal. It was quiet, comfortable, and elegantly appointed. Much thought had gone into the restoration of the room, and the choice of furnishings and other decorations. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious with fresh pastries, breads, fruit, meats, cheeses, coffee and tea. The weather cooperated enough for us to enjoy breakfast in the garden. What a treat! I’m sure we were the envy of all those who saw us from the canal boats floating by. You really feel the regard Caroline has for the house which has been in her family for generations. If you take a canal boat ride, you may be lucky to see the “In Bruges” movie star Fidele in their open library window with his front paws hanging out, a truly sweet sight.

Bruges is a magical place which we hope to return to again soon. When we do, we will be sure to stay at Cote Canal.

My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband, spent two nights here in July. Caroline, the owner, was extremely gracious, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay here comfortable and one to remember. The rooms were all decorated beautifully, very spacious, and our room had an amazing view of the garden/courtyard below and the adjacent canal. I heard her B&B was the only one (or one of very few) with a garden and canal view in Brugge. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Caroline and had a wonderful time there. I can't imagine going to Brugge and not staying at Cote Canal. I hope we will be able to make it back there again soon!

My sister and I travelled to Bruges for a long weekend in May and had the most wonderful time. The house is located on the canal with gorgeous views and fantastic location. We had amazing weather and ate breakfast overlooking the canal each morning. There are tons of reviews on here that talk about how amazing this place is and the hosts are wonderful. I love this place and is one of my favorite B&Bs in all of Europe! Stay here if you can... it's lovely.

We only spent one night at Cote Canal, and we were very impressed. The new attic room is spacious, and is larger than a standard european hotel room. It has a great view of the garden and canal. The bathroom was clean and modern.

Caroline (owner) was extremely nice & helpful, and it was great to meet the famous Fidel.

The house is no more than a block from Burg square and two blocks from Market Square. Quality restaurants are also within a few blocks.

Breakfast was excellent (many choices), and is served indoors, in the garden or canalside.

Bruges is incredible, and we can't imagine staying somewhere else when we return.

We had a fantastic stay in the beautiful new Attic room with an amazing view of the charming canal and the beautiful garden.

We fell completely in love with this place - the beautiful house, the town and the great hosts, Caroline and Henk. We will definitely be returning to Brügge!!

how can i top what others have written? it is all true plus a great deal more.... we have stayed in many bed and breakfast establishments throughout the states and a bit in england, the netherlands, and ireland--this place is the best.

not only is it lovely, spotlessly clean (and i am a nudge about how clean a place is....), and so wonderfully historic, caroline and henk are amazing folks. as a guest, one is made to feel very special and well cared for. they are nice nice nice-- which makes for a wonderful vacation. no stress stress stress....ta dah !!

if you are traveling to brugge, you must stay here for at least 3 nights...4-5 would be better. there is lots to see and do in brugge as well as the lovely belgium countryside. i have over 300 photos of brugge and the countryside as well as this lovely bed and breakfast--just am not hip enough to know how to put these on this web site..sigh.

we stayed in the empire room which was very lovely, but the other rooms are equally great-- any room here would be a treat.

thank you caroline and henk for a wonderful experience and stay in brugge... we will be back & sending our friends... you are the best !! fondly, jacki and tom from west-by-golly-virginia hope you are good good today and everyday.... hug doggies for me !!

After reading all this great reviews on Trip Advisor I had no doubt where to stay when my wife and I visited wonderful Bruges in the late spring.

Caroline gave us a fantastic service from the first email I sent her.

Caroline and Henk are the perfect hosts, perfectly balancing our privacy while caring for us. They couldn't do enough for us.

Cote Canal is with out doubt much better than any hotel we have stayed. This old historic building has an appealing atmosphere, where you will feel very relaxed in delightful rooms decorated to the smallest detail of Caroline.

I shall not forget to mention the breakfast: it had everything!! – Fresh juice, coffee, tea, croissants, fresh bread, jams and eggs if you wish! Delicious!

Caroline and Henk we found to be most helpful with restaurant recommendations. All the recommended restaurants were first class and with a high value for our money. Restaurant Couvert is with out doubt our favourite restaurant ever.

The only “poor” thing about our visit to Cote Canal is that it will be close to impossible to find such a fantastic accommodation again. Caroline and Henk have raced our expectations to another level.

I really would recommend this place to everybody who looks for high quality with superb service, -And you will be greeted by hosts that enjoying what they do for a living with an honest smile.

We will definitely be back to visit them again.

All our best recommendations, Olesya and Roger from Norway.
