“Great Location Nice Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

Stayed here in May 2014. Rooms are spacious. Breakfast very good. Great location. Walk out your door & you are very near to many shops & restaurants & the old town city center. The beds were comfortable. Front desk staff very helpful in assisting with hotels in Paris.

This hotel is perfectly located right next to the market square. For the money it was extremely good value. Rooms were a little basic but beds were comfy and everything was clean. Breakfast was fine if slightly basic however for the price you cant complain. The staff were polite and very helpful and I would recommend the Malleberg to anyone looking to stay in Bruges on a budget.

Perfectly located in the very heart of the historical part of the city, this charming eight-room hotel stands in a classic medieval Bruges house. Family owned, managed and hosted, there is no elevator so think it twice if you have heavy luggage and/or any kind of physical limitations. Room N° 6 on the second floor is quiet, cosy and clean but basic, and so are the furniture, towels and bathroom amenities so don´t expect distinction on those subjects. Express check in and out, in room safe and good internet connection are a plus, but no fridge is definitely a minus. Good quality continental breakfast with different kinds of freshly baked breads, one better than the other. Front desk only opened until 8:00 PM everyday and no room service all day long, so a couple of vending machines would be surely appreciated for a late night snack considering Bruges goes to sleep early. Overall: good value for money.

Having been to Bruges many times (8 in all) and having stayed at various hotels in the city, including the hotel opposite the Malleberge, though I found the price very fair and the location excellent, we were somewhat disappointed. The rooms were reasonable but a close look at the cleanliness and one could find dirt, for example under the beds and on the stairs. The breakfast could be improved in particular the cheese board, for the 3 pieces of cheese looked rather tired. any noise in the room was not different from other hotel, for the traffic noise is made worse by the cobbled street This was my Golden Wedding, and my daughter and Grandson with his Partner enjoyed theirvisit to Brugge

Having spent a few days in Paris last year with two grandchildren, in a quadruple room in the city, we had decided to visit Bruges this year, but required a bit more than just one room for two adults and two grand children aged 13 and 10.. I picked this hotel for its location, the fact that it had a family suite, with two large rooms that were separate twin bed and double bed. Shower and shower over bath and separate WC. Both rooms with tv, free wi fi, quiet, warm on the ground floor, tea/coffee making facilities. Perfect for all. Breakfast in the cellar area adjacent to the small lounge area (good use of space) cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruits or a tinned fruit salad.
Eggs boiled, all the breads, toast etc., croissants cheese, ham... unfortunately disappointment all round for kids, no pain au chocolat! In Bruges too!! The owner/manager and his wife were pleasant, we were able to leave our suitcase in the reception until our taxi arrived, so we could still use up the time without lugging our bags about. We were early on arrival, but our room was available immediately. Plenty of fresh towels, shower gel was affixed to the wall type, so take own if particular.
Walking distance to all the city .... so easy to get to everywhere. We loved it, and would definitely recommend with our without children. Thank you for helping to make their first visit to Bruges such a success.

Room Tip: Family room No. 9 ground floor...

Can not praise this Hotel highly enough. The location could not be bettered when we booked we asked for a rear room having read some reviews here, we got one, but don't think it is really needed as noise did not seem to be a problem. The owner was outstanding with helpful tips and advice and answered our questions about the area fully and informatively. The continental breakfast was ample to set you up for the day. You will not get a better hotel in this price range in Bruges. Thank you Malleberg and staff for a fantastic mini break in Bruges.

Stayed in top floor room for 4 days in December 2013. Staff are excellent and helpful and the basement breakfast room and breakfast (amazing/outstanding choice for a buffet breakfast with cereals, continental breakfasts and boiled eggs) was the highlight. Regrettably the room, overlooking the street) was rather tired, with some wallpaper starting to peel (hence the 4 rating rather than 5), but the bed and pillows were comfortable. Great location for easy walking to all the main attractions. Lots of restaurants nearby but beware of the steep rise in prices in the main squares, restaurants in the side streets a little further away are much better value and the service is better - we found a very "take it or leave it" indifferent attitude in the expensive restaurants in the main squares, but were delighted with the service elsewhere.

Room Tip: Top floor overlooking the street needs redecorating.
