“Quirky! Great Location”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Paid extra to stay in one of the larger rooms - Jacuzzi, balcony, mezzanine bedroom with fishtank, sink also a fish tank. Lots of secret cupboards and doors that reveal various treasures!! Nice hotel!

This is a neat place very old building pretty close to everything. the breakfast is good the waffles made to order. The resident cat as the run of the hotel. The only downside is there is no elevator and we were given a tiny room in the attic where you had to climb up a very narrow stairs to the bed. We booked months before and told them we were a senior couple.

Room Tip: If you are seniors or have trouble climbing lots of stairs or suffer from clostephobia go somewhere...

The hotel is right by the cathedral and about 20 metres from the main shopping street - 5 minutes walk from the central Market Square. It is a seventeenth century building, and it is easy to imagine the interior as it would have been originally. We had room 8 which is on the second floor (stairs only); it is smallish with a high slanting ceiling, and a teddy-bear lamp (all the rooms have some quirky feature) - there was an excellent view of the cathedral and the street below. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout - happy to book restaurants for us for example. And the hotel is very clean. There is free Wi-fi, which was useful, but only accessible in ground-floor rooms. The only downside was the breakfast: although cold offerings were extensive, the only hot options were eggs or waffles. Oh, and the hotel has a cat; my wife is allergic to cats but didn't seem to suffer from this one. Overall, an excellent hotel which we will choose again when we return to Bruges.

We returned this year as usual on our annual Bruges trip. Excellent as always with a great location and friendly staff. Good breakfast and quirky rooms especially the teddy bear lamp in Room 8! Will be back again soon.

The Salvator is in an excellent location very close to the Main Street and market square. The staff were very helpful right from check in up to looking after our luggage after we checked out. The gar man was great and although the bar closes at 10.00 he was always happy to serve a little later time. The prices at the bar are very competitive indeed.
The breakfast was fine with a choice of waffles or eggs plus cold meats, cheese, cereals and pastries. I noticed an earlier post mentioned no tea at breakfast but there is now.
The decor is very interesting and is a pleasant alternative to the usual suspect chain hotels. We had room 5 which was a little dark and the decor is a little tired but it was clean with a comfortable bed. It was quite warm but we were given a fan. It is good to have a fridge and the fish tank was a bonus.
Overall it was good value for money but could do with a little investment to match the location and the quality of the staff.

stayed 3 nights at this lovely hotel which I believe is one of the cheapest in the city. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Ollie the barman /receptionist helped us with maps and where to go.( recommended the Trappist bar, so many different beers to choose from).
The hotel bar had a collection of board games and a fine selection of beers but as a small hotel bar it lacked customers and therefore atmosphere.
The hotel does advertise a sauna and Jacuzzi but we never had time to check it out.
We had room 4 which was basic but clean, powerful shower and a kitchen to use with microwave and coffee machine. A previous reviewer had mentioned that the wandering house cat was a little off putting and I must agree, walking across tables and lapping at the drip trays on the bar.
Breakfast was continental buffet although you could also have eggs or fresh waffles.
The location was spot on, 10 min stroll to Market square and 6 or 7 minutes to Zand square.
although we chose to get a cab from the train station (7 Euro's) you could probably walk it in 15 minutes.
All in all a good base to see Bruges.

The location was amazing, the room was very nice. One of the best showers ever, and a great breakfast. but the hotel staff was extremely rude. I would have given them five stars if it was not for the staff. They treated us like idiots and were not helpful. If it was not for the staff I would also stay there again but will not because of it.
