We stayed at Martin's Relais for a few nights in Bruges. The room was quiet and clean, the staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast is quite expensive (17-22 € / person) but just next door is a wonderful bistro (Delilas) with exquisite breakfast. We recommend this hotel for everyone staying in Bruges.

This is a lovely hotel with very nice rooms. We had a garden view room that was very nice with a great bath. Our problem was that the front desk only had one person working. Our room was located some distance from the front reception area and it was down a circular stairway. I am 69 years old and, while I am still in good shape, navigating a circular staircase with two bags was a stretch for me. I feel that the reception should have notified me of this fact upon check-in and made arrangements to provide help. When I complained, the person on duty said I should have asked for help. Very good except I can't ask for help if I don't realize it is needed. Also, the Wi-Fi did not work. I wrote a complaint and I am still awaiting a reply.

Room Tip: Get a room that does not require the circular stair.

Stayed here the last week of July, 2013. Europe was experiencing a heat-wave at the time and this hotel was a god-send with its air-conditioned room. Staff was incredibly accomdating and the hotel is an easy walk to the city center. Would definitely stay here again!

This converted old building is well kept and managed. The staff and management was very helpful and understanding. The breakfast very good, and definitively worth the visit.
The family room was very large with plenty of room. The only down side was that the wireless was intermittent and there is no room service if you arrive very late to the hotel. However front desk has found us a close by restaurant that was open until 1:00 am.

Dear Mete A,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Martin’s Relais.

We are very happy to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us.

We are aware that our wireless internet can not always keep up with the growing demand of the modern traveler. At this moment we are making our best effort to ensure a more stable wireless network.

Given the enormous amount and variety of restaurants in Bruges and the possibility of dinning quit late it was our conscious choice not to provide our own restaurant services in the hotel. We would like to offer you our apologies on this matter if this was inconvenient for you in any way.

We would like to thank you for choosing Martin’s Relais and hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back as our guests in the near future!

Most sincerely,

Sofie Goossens

What an elegant, quiet, comfortable and thoroughly civil hotel this is. The staff are utterly gracious and accommodating to any request. Truly deserving of commendation were dieter and Clara. Two lovely young people. The location is away from the bustling centre, easily walkable. The bar and dining room are superb, as is the buffet champagne breakfast. Best. Of all, martins relais is 200% value and quite reasonable for the top quality venue it is. If you wish to make the best of your stay in Brugge, book this fine place!

Room Tip: Second floor, canal view.

Lovely old building on canal - 3 former merchants houses and a one time monastery. Reception staff are incredibly friendly, efficient and helpful. Our room was the old kitchen with original range and tiles. However, the beautifully decorated bathroom smelt of rotting turnips at certain times of the day!
We didn't take breakfast in the hotel (£17 a bit pricey) as there were plenty of lovely cafes serving coffee and croissants near by.
The hotel has a charming courtyard garden and is in a quiet location yet just 3 minutes walk from the main square.

Location great just minutes away from main square. Room fine bed very large and comfortable. We were on the ground floor with a view of the canal and we were not bothered by noise from the street. Staff pleasant and no trouble to store luggage until you want it. Breakfast very good lots of choice and lovely breads and pastries probably wouldn't pay the steep price for it though if it's not included in the package as there are plenty of places nearby you could go to. Internet a bit hit and miss but good enough for what we needed. Would definitely return.

Dear Inda_paulB,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience in our hotel on Tripadvisor.

We are delighted to read your comments about our staff members’ service and the quality of our breakfast buffet.

With the internet we recently had some problems indeed but now some devices have been replaced now to make the signal stronger over the whole building.

We hope we may welcome you another time in the future. Thank you again for your review.

Kind Regards,

Sofie Goossens
