This is a lovely hotel in an excellent location, we had the basement room, so there wasn't much light and we could hear everything above, but it was a lovely room, nice and clean and an excellent shower!! It's a 5 minute walk from the main square, with some really nice restaurants nearby and a excellent chocolate shop 2 minutes away and it was a lot cheaper than the other shops we went in!!

Couldn't fault this hotel. Our room was a really good size,as was the bathroom. Tastefully decorated. 5 minutes from the Markt. Open fire. Lovely bar area. Friendly staff. Minibar items not overpriced. Overall we were really happy with our choice of hotel. We paid £95 via Booking.com for a room overlooking the garden on the first floor.
We had breakfast at 'Pain Quotidien' as it was cheaper (just off the Markt) where they sell great croissants and pastries. I would recommend you take advantage of the parking provided by the hotel if you can, although spaces are limited, as this can be an issue in Bruges.

Wonderful hotel, had canal view which was a delight. Bed super cosy and comfy -best nights sleep in ages! Bathroom was spacious and well decorated. Maid service was up to a very high standard. Recepion staff were exceptional. Had a very scary experience at a local restaurant (called OLD BRUGE, please avoid at all costs as were assualted by staff there). When we got back to the hotel we spoke to Frederiec at reception who we told what had happened to us and he swiftly called the police, explained the seriousness of the situation and asked the police to visit us. He assured us that bad things like we experienced do not happen in Bruge and I urge you to ask the hotel for restaurant recommendations to avoid what happened to us. We were so impressed with Frederiec's professionalism during this matter we wanted to highlight it on this page. Thanks to Martins Relais and staff for restoring our faith again and for helping us on a very difficult evening. You will not regret booking up here.

Room Tip: Canal views are fab!!

Excellent Hotel, well situated, staff very friendly. The breakfasts are superb with great choice and lots of it. Not many places where you can get a good hot breakfast, smoked salmon, parma ham & melon, cava, croissants, bread, fruit et al.
I would happily recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for three nights and on the whole liked it very much.

The hotel staff are very friendly and attentive and the communal area's of the hotel are quite grand. The breakfast is nice and best included in your booking otherwise it can be expensive.

On arrival we were given Room 2, on the ground floor. I was not happy when I walked in as it was small, hot (the heating must have been on extra high) and noise due to the cobbled street outside. This was not what I considered 4* accommodation!. I immediately went to reception and asked to move.... which fortunately they agreed to do. The next room was much better on the second floor and with better views across the canal. The room was showing signs of wear and tear though, for example the bed side tables are quite literally on their last legs, it all just needs a bit of a spruce up and lick of paint in places.

The Wifi connection in the room was limited at best but we were still able to communicate with our family at home. The room tea/coffee facilities are more than adequate, the room safe and refrigerator were also useful.

The Car park is about 5 minutes/500 metres from the hotel but is still far enough to make it a bit of a chore if you are coming and going. I don't know if 20 euro's per night for parking is reasonable for Bruge, I felt it was expensive but didn't seem to have much option.

So overall a nice hotel, only let down by a few minor points, it is well located and also about 5 minute/500 metres away from the Markt/Belfort. I'm inclined to think there are better hotels in the same price bracket though.

Room Tip: Garden facing rooms are probably quieter. Expect some road noise if you go for a Canal View, ask fo...

Have just returned from a 3 day/2 night stay in Bruges at this hotel. Very pleasant introduction as the Reception desk is located in a large sitting room with a roaring log fire and comfortable armchairs. The duty receptionist was very helpful in every way, dispensing advice on where to go etc etc and providing a complimentary map of the city.

Our room was large and airy with a canal view. Would have preferred a large double rather than twins pushed together, however each bed was bigger than standard. The room was very clean and tidy with ample storage/hanging space in a large corner wardrobe and also a chest of drawers. Very nice bathroom with more than enough hot water on tap (I note that previous reviewers have had issues with this).

We only ate breakfast at the hotel and this was excellent. The hot choice was sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs. There was also ample cereals, fruit, cold meats and cheese on offer. I had the hot offering whilst there, but my girlfriend opted for the "continental" style and said it was very good.

In summary, we felt this was a good choice due to a combination of location, comfort, service and value. Our only gripe is that a handyman was painting the lift doors during our stay which meant that the lift was periodically out of action.

Just come back from a wonderful 2 night stay at a wonderful hotel. Had everything I could ask for and more! Where do I start?.... Lots of charm the open fire in the reception area was fabulous spent time sitting in front of the fire enjoying the warmth of the heat and a glass of lovely wine!
The staff were welcoming and even found time to give us a sneak preview of the other rooms in the hotel (always nice to see what else is on offer)
The room was lovely full of charm, spacious and most importantly warm. The bathroom was clean and contrary to what has been said full with complimentary toiletries. The staff couldn't be more helpful and allowed us to leave our luggage prior to check in and after check out.
The creaky stairs only added to the feel of the hotel. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone. The location is perfect near enough to the market square but far enough away from the hustle and bustle (well what passes for hustle and bustle in Bruge)
Breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice and the added bonus of a fairly nice Cava to wash down smoked salmon.
Had a good sleep although my partner complained the pillows were to soft (not for me), very clean room and a very clean hotel.
All in all a lovely few days spent relaxing, everything I hoped it would be and more, a romantic and charming hotel that matched the surroundings.

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor were spacious and very clean.
