This is a very cute, very personable, Bed and Breakfast outside of Bruges. The owners greet you at the door, walk you to your room, give you a map of wherever you want to go (we went so we could see Bruges) and then give you great tips for sight seeing!

After we settled in the room, we came downstairs where they immediately asked us what our plans were while we were there. They gave us a map, showed us exactly where we'll want to go in Bruges (the Market square). He told us to park at the train station that only costs 3EU for a whole day (such a huge help!! Street parking is 4,20EU for 2 hrs - and that's the MAX you can pay for on the street) and that the bus will take you into the city for free with your parking ticket. We didn't take the bus, because walking was easier and faster (the bus line looked really long - it was maybe a 10 min walk into the market from the station). The ice sculpture display was in front of the train station too, which was very convenient to visit. That tip saved us a lot of money and stress of parking.

After giving us travel tips, they invited us into their saloon (which is very cozy, very well decorated, very comfortable) and offered us a local beer on the house, and started a fire for us. Wi-Fi was free and easy to connect to, and had a strong signal. It stopped working on the second night for probably about 12 hrs overnight (9 pm - 9 am APPROX.), but that's not a big deal. I'm sure if we had mentioned it to someone (we didn't, because we weren't concerned with it) that it would have been fixed right away. Free parking and free breakfast. They make you eggs and bacon to order, and everything in the buffet is grown right there on their land. Both check-in and check-out were a breeze. Great price for getting so much out of it.

The B&B is about 12 km from Bruges, it's about a 20 min drive (you're driving through towns/in the city - which makes the trip a little longer than you'd think for a short 12 km). It was worth the distance though. We brought our 2 little dogs who were very happy there as well. They wouldn't have liked being in a noisy city hotel; the B&B had lots of land for them to go out in the peace and quiet and explore.

They also recommended a restaurant nearby on our second night - they called and made the reservations for us - and asked what we enjoyed eating, then wrote it down for us to give to the restaurant to order since their English may not have been good enough for translation.

Highly recommend, we will probably come back and stay here again. Maybe next time we'll get one of their Jacuzzi rooms - they look so appealing online!!

Room Tip: We had a room at the end of the hall (Shipswrecker) - so we only heard noises throught one side of t...

We stayed here for a night in November 2013. Very accommodating and friendly - they even left us cookies in our room! A drive to town but since we had a car that wasn't a problem for us (if the weather was nicer biking would have also been a great option). The real amazing part of this place (besides the beauty surrounding it) is the breakfast in the morning! Fresh baked bread, various cheeses, meats, homemade pate, jams, cakes, and so much more! They even made my boyfriend fried eggs with bacon and cheese as well. One of our favorite breakfast on our entire month long trip!

I stayed here in September for a night, just happened to find this hotel online and I'm so glad. We were shown to a gorgeous annex room and couldn't believe our luck. The bedroom was furnished with antiques and the bathroom was a large wet room.

It was a great base for exploring Brugge and Oostende. The hosts were very friendly, my dodgy French/Dutch wasn't an issue as they spoke perfect English. If you like your hotels alittle different and not so cookie cutter you can't go wrong here, I can't recommend De Stokerij enough.

I had been there about 10 years ago on a special weekend, had kept good memories of it, and decided to return for a short weekend near the seaside. Unlike manu fine memories, this one did not let me down. The place is still as good as I remembered, the rooms nicely, warmly decorated (maybe to some tending to ovedecoration), full of nice attentions, candles, bathroom products, etc. The breakfast is wonderful: all home made products, or quality products procured from local exquisite specialists. The lady of het house is charming and really takes good care of her guests, the way you would never expect in a hotel, but rather in bed & breakfasts.
Highly recommended

Stayed for 3 nights in his lovely B&B. We used it as a base to explore the local area including Brugge, De Haan, and WW1 sites including Ypres. The GPS had no trouble finding the hotel despite it being slightly off the main track. The hosts spoke great English and were very helpful with directions and suggestions. We enjoyed one dinner on site which was a combination cooking demonstration and dinner. The bed was a big king size which took up most of the room. The bathroom was also a good size. If you have a car and are looking for an upmarket place to indulge this is it.

My wife & I stayed at the De Stokerij as part of a tour of Belgium. It is set in a rural area within easy reach of Bruges & Ostend. First impressions were good. We were offered a complimentary drink on arrival & our room, although somewhat quirky, was comfortable. The hosts were very friendly & gave helpful advice about the local area. We also appreciated the home-made rolls & preserves at breakfast which was such a change from the usual chain hotel food. There was a problem with their credit card reader at the end of our stay but they were patient & helpful while this was resolved. Would recommend this hotel.
