Pijpeweg is almost on the countryside. It is one of the farthest streets of Brugge, lined with upscale single family homes. Next to the house there are open fields and farmhouses, and you can hear the farm animals at a small distance. The center of Brugge is only 4-5 kms away. For grocery shopping there are few good stores within 1-2 km radius. A car is quite necessary to stay in a location like this. The area is really beautiful.
The house looks like an old farmhouse to which some expansions have been built later, with a good taste. The lawn on the backyard is huge, almost the size of a football field. The garden is lovely with shrubs, flowers, vines and pear trees. There is also a secluded patio with a large table and a barbeque grill.
The house has ample living areas on the ground floor. The area where the dinner table is, has also a bar desk, which takes up some space. The bar is not useful for a family stay, but I guess will be very handy for having a party. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped for preparing and serving meals. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one in each end of the house. The third bedroom is adjoining another bedroom and is good for children or teens, as it has less privacy. All spaces and furniture were in excellent shape, everything looked almost new.
We were impressed how well the house was equipped. There was a TV, a music system with a selection of CDs, books in the bookshelf, washing machine, even a box of toys for children. It felt like staying in a home rather than in a vacation rental.
The surrounding area is fabulous for biking. Pijpeweg extends to another road that leads straight to Damme. The network of small country roads have little traffic, and it's relaxing to pedal along the canals and in the middle of cornfields, passing by farmhouses. The landlady arranged rental bikes for a small extra cost. It was convenient to get the bikes delivered to the house instead of trying to find a good bike rental by ourselves.
The rent did not include bed linen, which we paid in cash together with a 250€ deposit when we arrived. We received a receipt for the cash payment. The rental agreement was professionally and clearly formulated, and the deposit was returned in a day after our departure. Everything worked really well with the landlady.
We had a very nice stay in Brugge.
