A small shop getting very busy at the weekends but worth the time to see and buy some real quality chocolate which is very good. So much choice of course in the city but this is an amazing shop and the made up bags were good value and easy to choose from. No visit complete without a visit here just try not to spend any money and you will certainly fail....

As chocoholics, we have visited half a dozen chocolatiers in Bruges and this one is absolutely the crème of the crop. With many exciting creations to choose from, we tried almost everything, so addictive that we went back twice during our three-day stay in Bruges. Our favourite by far is Havana, ganache perfumed with a distillate of tobacco leaves, its enticing scent transporting us to Cuba. Other inventive flavours, from lavender and lemongrass to espresso and earl grey, are all heavenly but those with Oriental ingredients such as saffron and curry tend to be mild. The line is predictably long so get there early (9.30 am on Tuesday to Saturday and 10.30 am on Sunday and Monday). Every restaurateur we met confirms this is the best in Bruges.

We visited the Chocolate Line while in Bruges for the Easter week end after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. My partner and I are big chocolate fans and really enjoy the refined ones. As other reviewers mentioned, the shop is small and was packed when we went in but it was worth waiting for. We bought a small selection of chocolates, lemongrass, orange, mint and sel de guerande and they were all amazing, especially the mint ones. The aftertaste tastes just like a fresh mint leaf. We cam back the next day to buy easter eggs for our family, the service was flawless twice, the gentleman working there really knows customer service. You an also see chocolatiers making chocolates at the back.

While visiting Bruges we stopped in at The Chocolate Line based on reviews we had seen on Trip Advisor. Walking in was like a chocolate paradise - a huge assortment of flavors and chocolate goodies plus the opportunities to watch the chocolatiers in the back. But the wait was LONG and moved very slowly. After waiting in line for about 10-15 minutes it seemed we were getting nowhere and we decided to leave as we'd passed numerous other chocolate shops while walking around the city. However, after stopping at another store, we were disappointed as there were substantially less options (and certainly less interesting options) to choose from. We did buy some chocolates from the second store to take back to friends/family as gifts (they were certainly cheaper than at The Chocolate Line) but decided we would try The Chocolate Line again later in the day. When we went back, there was still a wait but the line was actually moving and it was a much more pleasant experience. The employees at the store saw that we had children with us and gave them complimentary chocolate lollipops while we were waiting. We selected a medium sized box and picked out a variety of flavors. Since getting back home from our trip we've had the opportunity to try some of the different chocolates and find them to be hit and miss. Some of the chocolates are fantastic. Others not so much. But some of that may be because some of the flavors we picked were of the more "interesting" variety (wasabi, lavender, etc.).

Bottom line - there are a lot more flavors to choose from at The Chocolate Line and the store feels more upscale. But we did find them to be more expensive than some of the other stores. Are the chocolates any better than those at other stores? I'm not sure. Jury's still out.

I went to the Chocolate Line shop in Antwerp, but I agree with other reviewers. For all the flash and the really unique flavours, they just weren't any good. If I get a chocolate labeled tobacco, I want to taste the smokiness, not just bland chocolate.
