I do not know why they call this an archaeological museum. It is a total misnomer. It's a children's "show and tell", hands on, dress up museum.

Thankfully, it was included in our Brugge Museum pass and we did not have to pay an additional fee. It was quite disappointing. It was like a maze and we had a hard time finding the exit - which we were in a hurry to locate!!

It has to be said that in the 3 days we had in Bruges we did very little. It was a dry April weekend and it is such a pleasant place to just wander around, take in the sights of the houses, canals, churches and markets, antique shops that you do not feel obliged to do anything else. That we wasted time and 8 euros on this museum was the only negative activity in the whole trip. It did have a bathroom so wasn't a complete loss but that was the high point!
(this review does make me wonder what we would have to experience to rate anything as one star - possibly the bathroom being out of order!)

I love this museum. The quirky style makes it feel like you are actually on an excavation. The timeline which threads it's way through the museum is a simple but clever touch. There are lots of hands-on things for kids (and adults).

We bought the combined ticket that provides entry to all of the Bruges Museums and it is well worth the money.

It's for the kids we went round and had a laugh with the interactive bits of the museum. Although parts of it is interesting to see the cemetery that was uncovered and the pottery. Not what we was expecting and was in and out in 20 minutes glad we had a city card.

This is the oddest place
I have ever been. Exhibits include a CD in a case, a grey Lego
Building of nothing, a video of a Flemish person cooking accompanied to a euro disco soundtrack, and often just some walls. I have no idea what it was meant to be about or show about Bruges. Brilliant for its bizarreness but other than that save your pennies and go get a waffle.
