“Convenient and comfortable”
Reviewed October 15, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Martine was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The house met all the usual standards of comfort and was situated on a quiet side street yet close to all amenities and only a short walk to the city centre.

“Modern, clean, and a great place for a family”
Reviewed July 26, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

To start with Maritne met my family of 5 plus extra teenager at the railway station. Martine speaks fluent English. My wife and all our luggage went with Martine to the guest house in her car. No way our luggage and kids could fit into a car. The rest of us took the fifteen minute walk to the rental because we had been on a trains most of the day and needed to stretch our legs. The bus is right there by the station so we could have road or called a taxi. What a plus for Martine to my wife and our luggage.

The house is in exceptional condition and is very modern and clean. There are three floors. The first has the entry, a half bath, a good sized kitchen/dinning table for 6, and a living room with ample space. Off of the living room is a private, enclosed patio. The television and cable are in the living room and worked without issue. The house has WiFi that worked great even with six devices on it. The kitchen has more than enough dishes, glasses, pans for cooking, and silverware along with a dishwasher.

The second floor has the large bedroom with ample closet space and the full bath. There is a wide yet slightly steep stairway to this floor and the third floor. If you have been to Europe before this is common. The bathroom has a large with tube and shower plus a built in hairdryer. The toilet is in a small adjoining room between the shower and the bedroom. The bed in the main room was comfortable and a queen size.

On the third floor were two small rooms with single beds that each had a pull out additional trundle single. These were great and easily accomidated my three teenagers and one pre-teen. Asking them, they all had no issues with the rooms or beds. Each room has a large skylight window that opens and a screen.

The only fault for us was there was no washing machine to do our clothes. Which leads me to the location. Within two blocks of the house is a small convince store, a bakery & deli, a grocery store, and a laundromat. You can walk to all of these is 3-5 minutes with ease. Also close is a place that servers beer and ribs that is rated high on TripAdvisor. Best of all it is moderately priced. Brugge can be expensive because it is such a tourist town. You can easily walk to the main square or to the busy shopping streets within ten minutes. The bus picks up on either end of the street. My advice would be to rent bikes and ride around.

If you get a chance and are heading to Brugge to stay for more than an overnight, stay here. Martine is a excellent host and the house will met or exceed your needs. We have been traveling for two weeks in Europe and by far this was our nicest rental apartment.

It is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Bruges and that your family so much appreciated my holiday house. Indeed, a washing machine is not provided as there are two laundry stores just around the corner, within 100 meters from Opaal. I will add their addresses to my list of "good-to-know places". Thanks for your suggestion. Best regards, Martine

“Nice town house, good position, had a great stay”

Opaal is situated in a quiet side road but only a short walk to the sights of Bruges. Martine greeted us and explained everything and was very helpful - we were only her 3rd party of guests but everything was spot on for us.

Opaal is a nice house, and has everything you want or need for a short break or a week away. The twin rooms are a little snug with the bottom bed pulled out, but were fine for us, and everything else was great. I would use it again if I am lucky enough to return to Bruges.
