Stopped in here for a coffee to get out of the rain on our last day. Had a lovely coffee and cake, paid the bill and left a tip (to a lovely older lady).

Unfortunately, on my way out, as I put my coat on, one of the sleeves knocked a glass which smashed on the floor. I obviously apologised profusely and began helping clean it up.

This was not good enough for the young lady who began sweeping it up - she visibly huffed, tutted and rather sternly told me to 'Just leave it alone, I'll clean it' i.e 'You've done enough already'.

I really didn't appreciated this - it's a small place and it was an accident. Little things like this make the difference between someone returning or not. I have never had any issue like this when I've visited the Old Chocolate House.

Also, they were close on Friday during hours that stated that they were open. Annoying, especially when it's raining and you've gone out of your way to find them based on reviews.

Charming, cozy cafe run by a lovely family. Very tasty breakfast offerings; one of the few places that opens on a Sunday morning as well.

Charming little cafe where they serve fresh homebaked goodies and a variety of teas.
Our waffles were freshly made and came with strawberries and cream. Very yum.
The lady who runs the cafe took time to chat with us, adding that personal touch.
The interior is very basic. Could do with freshening up so it looks more cosy, like a proper
tea-room.

Convenient little café run by a very charming trio (a young woman, her husband, her mother), who will smile and talk to you while serving up delicious home-made breads and fresh omelettes. The coffee is tasty, and orange juice generous, and the mood relaxed: at less than half the price of nearby hotels, for a better breakfast, it's hard to beat.

Myself and my girlfriend went for breakfast/brunch and we were not disappointed. I went for the biggest breakfast on the menu and it was very indulgent. As well as bread, ham and cheese there was fruit salad, yoghurt and compote and you also get to choose some pastries from the bakery section. The pastries were all huge and were very tasty. The hot chocolate was also good.
It was a little embarrassing when the food arrived because there was so much that they had to bring an extra table over for us!

My one gripe was the service, although it was very polite and friendly it was very slow which let the experience down a little. Having said that, the food was worth the wait and it is a nice room to sit in so we did not really mind waiting. It was very busy but they should have had more staff waiting on tables.
