“Perfect place to stay”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights December 27th to December 30th 2013. Can't recommend it enough, charming, welcoming hostess. Quiet comfortable room with en suite. Great view. Tasty breakfast all good produce. Excellent location. Good value for money and Veronique was always ready with local advise. Our first to Bruges, will definitely be going again and will stay at the Hotel Alegria. Bruge is an amazing place

Pros. Great position without a ridiculous price, as were most in this area. We needed to be close due to a recent accident limiting my ability to walk far
Room very comfortable , service excellent, very comfortable bed, a safe in room.
Outlook, old quaint buildings , as expected in an old picturesque city.
I qualify average value as for time of year and Its competition but good for location.
Cons. Lot of stairs with a healing broken leg, (a lift is planned),

We had a really warm welcome at the hotel and we immediatly felt welcome! The hotel is really good located so we were able to enjoy this wonderful city! Too bad that the room was bit small comparing with what we already had in other hotels in Belgium. For the rest all was really nice!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights from November 28th to December 1st. We were greeted by the owner (sorry, have forgotten her name although think it was Veronique) who was most welcoming. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but that was due to us not letting her know when we would be arrive. She gave us a map and explained many of the sights to see and also gave us a discount card for places around Bruges. We were staying in the Chocolate Room which was light and airy and had a good view over rooftops and surrounding buildings. The hotel is very close to the Grotke Square and given that everything in Bruges is relatively compact it was the perfect place to stay. Breakfast was great although only managed to get up for it two out of three mornings as the Belgian beer helped me over sleep one morning. The hotel only has six rooms although is due to expand next year. We will hopefully be returning for the Christmas markets again next December and in all likelihood, to the same hotel. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: The Chocolate Room was excellent, No issues at all.

We are just back from a lovely three nights in Bruges where we stayed at the Alegria. This is a lovely B&B in the heart of Bruges. Comfortable, clean, and a welcoming and warm reception. Veronique was very friendly, very knowledgeable about Bruges attractions, offered a lovely choice of goodies for the buffet breakfast, and we enjoyed our stay very much. We will return!! Thanks to Veronique and her family, and to Bruges for being such a beautiful friendly and interesting city.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Chocolate Room - lovely decor.

Highlights of the room were the bed and pillows which were extremely comfortable along with the bath. Nothing beats a big tub on a wet and grey day.
The breakfast which was plentiful & set in a very homely environment.

Ideally located within a few minutes walk from the main square.
Parking was a concern for us but not a problem for Alegra guests. There is a parking station within 50 metres of the hotel @ EUR $10 for 24 hrs.

Our room was high on the third floor which afforded a nice view across the old rooftops of the neighbouring buildings.

The only negatives being that the TV had limited channels and didn't hold a great picture. Not usually something that would bother me, but TV is a useful device during a cold wet windy day.
Another thing to note is that wifi is not available in the room but only in the breakfast and reception area.

This isa small boutique hotel with 6 rooms at present. Our room was extremely clean with two chairs and small table between and kettle for hot water. Tea and coffee was provided in room and chocolates on arrival. The bed was lovely with great linens. The pillows a tad plumb for me my my husband liked them. Two closets, no drawers but we just put our things on the bottom of the built in closet. The bathroom is very nice with a lovely bathtub. There was a small refrigerator in the bathroom room but it was quite inconvenient as it was place under the sink and you could not get close to use the miirror and sink easily; especially if you were short. The breakfast was wonderful with jams, breads, cereal, yogurt, hams and cheeses. Veronique would even make you an egg however you like it. She was very welcoming when we arrived and gave us tips on restaurants, etc. Our room had a garden view.

Room Tip: We had a garden room which was quiet and lovely to look out the window. There is a patio restaurant...
