“Best option in Bruges for the price, lovely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

Having searched high and low for a reasonably priced B&B in Bruges, De Loft fitted the bill for a number of reasons, primarily because it was one of the few B&Bs without any negative reviews.

When we arrived we were not disappointed, and I was certainly glad that I didn't go for a cheaper option elsewhere as the other B&Bs in the lower or similar price bracket didn't look nearly as good. The room had everything we needed and was very clean. Location of De Loft is also excellent for walking to the main areas of interest in Bruges, plus free parking was a big bonus.

The landlady was really friendly and gave us some good local advice. She even prepared a street-map for us with recommended restaurants already circled on the map.

Room Tip: If you are concerned about noise from adjacent rooms it's probably best to check with landlady w...

Just perfect!

The location is great. Far enough out to ensure absolute peace (apart from the charming bells) but close enough to walk to all that Bruges has to offer. The river is less than 5 minutes and the main square less than 10 and that's at a gentle amble.

There are bars and restaurants nearby if you don't want to head into the centre, Bieke will tell you all the best places to go. There is a good sized supermarket a couple of minutes walk too.

Parking outside the house is free, which is a huge bonus in Bruges. The guest rooms have their own entrance so you do really feel like you have your own space and can come and go with ease at any time. There is tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a microwave, fridge freezer and cutlery in the lobby (all free to use) so you get the benefits of an apartment.

We stayed in the blue room which is really spacious. The bed is really comfy as are the chairs and there is a great big bean bag too. The bathroom is separated by walls but doesn't have a ceiling, but once you're used to it, it really isn't a problem.

Bieke is a fantastic host, on hand for anything you want but totally unobtrusive, a natural in the hospitality business!

Soap is provided (as are any other toiletries you might have forgotten) so you don't need to worry.

There is free wifi too, the code is in the bedroom.

You honestly will not find any better in Bruges. If we go back, I would always go direct to Bieke.

We booked three nights at this bed & breakfast based on the reviews on this website as, despite the fact there were only six reviews, they were all extremely positive. This is totally justified. The location is perfect, being quiet but within walking distance of everything you might want to see. The rooms are quirky but really beautifully adapted (we stayed in the Blue Room, but we peeked into the other rooms when they were empty).

Bieke is the perfect hostess, so friendly and welcoming, without ever being remotely intrusive. Her recommendations on places to eat and drink were spot on and meant that we managed to avoid the overpriced restaurants, which we really appreciated.

This is a great little B&B and the breakfasts are enormous. You will not be able to eat it all, I guarantee it. Perfect for couples or families, groups or singles. We want to come back to Brugge again and will definitely stay at de Loft again (if we can get a room - I think word will spread very quickly...)

Thank you Bieke. Sorry it took so long to write our review!

stayed for a couple of nights and found this place to be great. It's in a quiet courtyard off a quiet street but id just a few minutes walk from the centre of Bruges. The rooms are very spacious and pretty comfortable. The unique high windows give the room we stayed in a very airy feeling. We didn't like the fact that the shower and toilet are just separated from the bedroom by a dividing wall that doesn't go to the ceiling, rather than being in a separate room. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hostess Bieke is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Take some soap as it's not provided in the room (but we did find some small bars of soap in a bi...

Location: 5 minutes walk from the city center, quiet backstreet.

Room: This is not actually a hotel but a guesthouse. We stayed in the suite.
Very spacious, very well decorated, the means to make tea/coffee, large refrigerator and microwave just outside the room, complimentary milk and beer for just 1 EU a bottle.
In short - all the comforts of your home away from home.

Staff: there is no actual staff, only the owner.
The owner is very pleasant, helpful, available and overall a good person to chat with :)
Even provided us with a map marking good places to hang out and dine.

Value for money - Couldn't ask for more for the price,
The owner even cut the "formal" price for the parking for us.

Best hotel we've been in bar far in our 3 country trip and one of the lightest on the bank account.

Room Tip: Talk with the owner - she has a lot of tips about what to do in Bruges :)

Lovely place. Quiet, well furnished and within easy walk to town. Can't fault it. I liked the unusual roof windows and the sound of the church bells. As others have said, Bieke is very kind and lovely to talk to.

We are just wrapping up a stay here at De Loft and we have loved every minute! Bieke is an absolutely wonderful hostess! Before we arrived she gathered some books for our toddler to look at and as soon as we arrived she took her to pick out some age appropriate toys. When we arrived she also went over a map of Brugge with us and gave some recommendations for restaurants and things to do. We stayed in the suite which had plenty of room for my husband, our toddler, and myself. We were quite comfortable in the room aside from the heat due to the unusually warm weather, but there's really nothing that can be done about that other than running the fan which Bieke kindly provided. Breakfast was very delicious and filled us up for the day which was very nice.

Finding De Loft was fairly simple and parking is stress free since we can park right out front. The location is perfect as we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see but were still in a quiet part of town.

We absolutely recommend De Loft for visits to Brugge and hope to be able to return in the future! Thank you Bieke!
