Stayed at the Hotel Anselmus 2-4th October after some research on TripAdvisor and based on a first visit to Bruges this seemed a very good hotel at a reasonable price that is ideally placed for exploring Bruges on foot.

Room (21) was good, kept spotlessly clean, and quiet. Small note to owners: can you add a shower bracket at head height and shower curtain? Really liked the conservatory area for the buffet breakfast.

Good service from the owners helped us with various recommendations. Particularly liked the fact that there is a free computer and free wi-fi access in the lobby - why haven't all hotels switched onto this? such a basic service that should be as free as tap-water...

If you're travelling on a modest budget and want to dump the car for the weekend and explore all the sights of beautiful Bruges you won't be disappointed with the Hotel Anselmus.

We stayed for 1 night only but were highly delighted with everything. The rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was superb. Will definitely recommend it to friends.

Arrived about noon was greeted warmly, room ready, given great recommendations on what to do, where to not eat and several good suggestions of where to eat.
Hotel is in a great location, easy to get to from the train station, just take the bus from the train station and follow the directions given by the hotel.
Room itself was very clean, bathroom large with two sinks, great bath tub.
We had to get up very early the next morning and missed the breakfast. Disapointed because we heard so much about it.
I loved this town and both my sister and I wished we had stayed two nights. Would suggest flying into Brussels, doing the city then taking the train to Burges that evening.

Very recently re-decorated, friendly helpful owners who couldn't do enough for us or my disabled Father

Clean, good continental buffet, great central location. Street can be a tad noisy but you are taking a City Break!

But be warned- mention when booking if you have problems with stairs- very tight and steep so grab a downstairs room

We've been to Bruges several times before and always opted for a hotel on the outskirts of the city. This time we wanted a more central location so booked in at this hotel. The location is ideal.....we paid for our car to be parked some distance away which the hotel arranged but it was worth it as everything worthwhile seeing, can be reached on foot. The welcome we received was warm and friendly and we were offered a tray of tea/coffee for our room. This is a 3 star hotel so as far as the rooms were concerned, we weren't expecting too much but they were large, clean and adequate for our needs. The bathroom was great, must have been recently refurbished as everything seemed very new. The hotel is charming, lots of little homely touches and some nice antiques. The breakfast was good, the usual continental affair being ham, cheese, bread, cereal, yoghurt, etc plenty of choice and we were offered a boiled egg too. Overall I would say if you are going to Bruges for a weekend break you can't go wrong with this hotel for an ideal location, warm and friendly greeting. We did hear a bit of noise from the street but you have to understand that you are staying in a city and in such a central location, street noise is going to happen - no other noise heard from other rooms or guests though.
