“Wish we could stay longer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2010

My husband and I celebrated our 4th Wedding Anniversary in beautiful Bruges, and were so lucky to have stayed at De Tuilerieen. The hotel itself was in an ideal location, but it was the excellent service from its staff that made it more special. We got upgraded to an Executive Suite for free, because the hotel knew it was a special occasion for us. Believe me, some hotels would not do that even if they have vacancies! Throughout our stay, we were impressed at the personal services received from the hotel. For example, we were escorted to our room and staff (Jeffrey) gave useful information on the hotel during this time, staff (Jeffrey again) marked down clearly on a map where the attractions and good restaurants were located, daily evening turn-down service with Godiva chocolates, weather forecast, etc. Inside our room, we found a spacious bathroom with both tub and separate shower, twin sinks and all the amenities. The 4-Poster Bed was amazing and big, lighting in room was just right, not to mention all the space and furniture for us to rest and relax in. The room also had interesting magazines and hard-cover books, which we thought was very smart. We took a quick peek at the bar, pool and sauna but just didn't have enough time to enjoy them. The only weaknesses of the hotel would be, 1) our room was not "sound-proof" enough, that we could hear our neighbors talking and the maids cleaning outside our door in the morning, 2) the too expensive breakfast (EUR30/person). We have traveled a lot in many European cities and De Tuilerieen was definitely a highlight of our Bruges Trip. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone!

a beautiful room overlooking the canal. large windows, good size bathroom excellent location, close to museums and a fabulous restaurant-with the sculpture in front- right beside the hotel.
too bad internet was not included in the cost.
we did not have the champagne breakfast as it was a bit costly and after a good evening of wines didnt really need champagne in the morning
a beautiful cosy bar area with fireplace and photos of the rich and famous who have stayed there

This is the third time we visited this hotel. The first time now with our son (6y) and our little dog (a Westy).

This hotel really takes customer service to the next level. Everything is optimized to allow the most fullest enjoyment of a 100% relaxing vacation:
- The staff is exceptionally friendly
- Breakfast can be enjoyed till 11am in the week and 12am in the weekend!
- The breakfast offering is overwhelming: a buffet with champagne, a large variety of fish, meat, fruit, cheese, pastries, vegetables, home-made chocolate spread (mmh!), pancakes, chocolate fountain, saucages, eggs, bacon, corn flakes, yoghurts, bread, ... Too much to taste it all in one day! And all of top quality.
- Willingly adapted to the food allergy problems of our son (no problem seems to be too much)
- The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are luxuruously decorated
- There is an evening room service (handy as they unfolded and made up the bed for our little son and cleaned up)
- There is a cosy bar with fire to rest in after walking the many musea
- A small but nice swimming pool (with sauna and hamam)
- You can dine in the hotel restaurant (tried and proven to be excellent)

All in all, the perfect place to enjoy the historical beauty of Bruge.
We are a fan (and intend to return :)!

My boyfriend and I recently visited Bruges (Thur-Sat) on a trip organised for his birthday. We booked via Eurostar and received an extremely good rate for this trip. We had seen pictures and read the good reviews about the hotel so knew we were going to be pleased with our choice but on arrival, not only were we blown away by the beautiful sights of Bruges, when we entered the hotel we couldnt believe how amazing this hotel was! It had lovely high ceilings with amazing architecture and wonderful wooden staircases - full of character and charm. The staff at reception were exceptionally helpful and friendly and they went beyond the levels of service you would expect. The room was extremely spacious and tidy with a grand 4 poster bed and very large bathroom and wonderful views overlooking the canal - perfect!! The hotel was centrally located and it was only a very short but beautiful stroll into town along the cobbled streets with everywhere you look, a picture. We asked the hotel to recommend somewhere to eat for dinner and not only did they hand us business cards for some of the most wonderful restaurants Bruges has to offer, but they gave us complete directions along with a map highlighting our route.
The staff turn down your room every night and leave chocolates on your bed - very nice touch! The rooms are cleaned everyday and to a very high standard, all of the staff are extremely pleasant and friendly.
All in all this hotel went towards making our trip to Bruges a truly wonderful and memorable few days. Cannot recommend this hotel hightly enough and would go back tomorrow! Definitely a must!

We stayed here for 3 nights (wed-sat) booked on eurostar.com and got a very good deal including the train. We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and got upgraded to an executive four poster bed room at the back of the hotel, I had just asked for a quiet room away from the road - but the road itself appeared very quiet, cobbled streets. We were greeted warmly at reception, throughout the stay everyone was very helpful and friendly, shown to our room by the desk and it was very romantic with the four poster (very comfy) and the traditional furniture, very well equipped bathroom with bath and separate shower, his and hers sinks with all the usual mod cons in the room tv, minibar, iron/board, writing desk. Each night at 7pm or later if you go out they do a turn down service, replace towels, leave a card with the weather which was handy and chocolates - very personal service.

The only couple of things I would have liked to change were the room to have been warmer, heating was an enclosed floor radiator that was on full heat but the room never got above 20c in the temperature chart - depends on what you like. I would have liked tea/coffee making - especially in winter. In Bruges itself and in the hotel there was a faint smell of sewers, it didn't affect our enjoyment but the canals must cause issues. Although tea was 3.50 euros in the bar area , it did buy you a nice cosy experience with comfy sofas and armchairs and a roaring fire. Smoking was allowed in the bar only but I didn't see anyone. Breakfast including champagne was 30 euros served between 7-11 and 12 on a weekend, looked great and even a chocolate fountain but for 3 days would have been a small fortune. We enjoyed a coffee and a pain au chocolat for 2 people - 8 Euros around the corner turn right out of the hotel and right again, just 2 minutes on your left for breakfast/lunch - very popular.

We used the pool, steam and sauna which was nice, pool not very warm but compact and in our bathrobe and slippers we padded down for a relax, good in the morning when the sun streams into the pool area. Theyalso had a car park at the back of the hotel - 25 euros a night.

The main restaurant was open Thursday onwards, a lot of restarants seem to be closed wed/thursday. We dined at Au petit grand just of the markt, great in the week food very good quality, average spend 60-70 euros for 2 courses and drinks - excellent service. Jan Van Eyrk Tea Room - fab 2 courses for 12 euros - lunch - fab service. Best value and service off the Markt. Bruges is so easy to walk around, very flat and do as little or as much as you like, with plenty of sights and shops. We went up the Bell Tower on the first day - 334 steps! Friday and Saturday started to get really busy, so my suggestion is go earlier in the week and before the season gets too busy, as Saturday was pretty busy. We would recommend and go back again - had a fab time and Bruges is a great place to relax and enjoy.

The hotel is very charming and full of history. The staff was very helpful and always there with tips and hints. The room was very cozy with all necessary things in place. However, I have to say that the only disappointing thing was the price for breakfast which was a bit out of range...Therefore, we ended up going to some nice and cheap breakfast places around the corner.
