This is not the biggest or best Christmas market but there is a nice atmosphere and Bruges is a beautiful place to visit

We drove to Bruges for the christmas market, and parked at the station, which is convenient for in and out access, plenty of places and great value. A short 10-15 minute walk brings you to the town and the market, which is in two parts, and fine if you just want to drink gluhwien and eat waffles, otherwise you will be disappointed. We had a good breakfast in the square, which was reasonably priced, and noticed that a lot of places did a fixed price lunch at 20-25 euros, this may seem expensive, but when you consider what you would pay in London, it is no more than anywhere else. We took a horse drawn carriage ride round the town, and really enjoyed that. The boat trips were busy, so we didn't bother, but found there was another boat station round the back that was less busy, so we could have done this with ease. There are some fabulous shops in Bruges, and plenty to keep everyone occupied, with several museums and visitor attractions. The best attraction we found was the Ice sculpture pavilions at the station, depicting the Lord of the Rings story, it was amazing, if only we had known that you can obtain reduced entry to several attractions with one booking, it would have been even better. Bruges is lovely, and didn't really shine in the cold and wet, but we will go back in the summer, from where we are it is quicker and cheaper to go to Bruges than up to London!

We just spent Friday and Saturday in Bruges, particularly going for the Christmas market. We were really looking forward to visiting the varied stalls and products. There are two sites with market huts. The main site being in the Markt and the other about 100 metres away (smaller). We arrived at the smaller market first and couldn't wait to get to the "large" market in the main square as there were only a handful of huts in the smaller market. We couldn't believe our eyes when we arrived at the main market site as there was only about 20-30 huts - of which about half were selling cooked food and drink. Some of the huts had some nice products but some were a load of rubbish. But the main disappointment was the lack of quantity of market stalls/huts. I was expecting at least 100 stalls selling quality local and traditional products. Instead it was nothing more than could be bought at a UK Christmas market. So if you are travelling abroad to find a quality Christmas market, look elsewhere. In addition, don't go at the weekend if you can help it. Coachloads of tourists arrived and it was hard to move about without bumping into people.

We travelled by car having heard so much about continental markets,i had no idea what to expect.
The day started well with free park and ride bus into Brugge . there were no stalls selling local made items that i could see,Barr one selling cheese. In fact we could have been at any market in any country, what there was were several lines of small sheds with drop down counter at the front on two sites alternative ones were selling food and drink at a reasonable price these did reflect a local flavour most of the non food items on sale could be purchased in England. There were hundreds of people milling about with nothing to do.We went to go on the ice rink although it made a colorful picture it was very small. Most of the restaurants seemed to have put up their prices as two weeks ago we had a meal in the lovely town of Vern which is close to the French border at half the price most restaurants were charging. and we found one waiter at the Hagg Andass resturant very rude. The only redeeming feature of this market was the stunning setting of buildings. final comment market not worth the bother of going to but do go for the Beautiful buildings

We went on the last weekend of November and really enjoyed it. With local products such as the selections of cheese from nearby Jabbeke and also the Zot beer which is brewed within Bruges centre itself there really is something for everyone.
