This vast, slightly chaotic and certainly very busy square boasts wonderful architecture to look at and visit as well as many amenities for tourists. You can begin your Bruges adventures from this starting point and you can complete ALL of your souvenir shopping in this square if you wish. Bruges is a very walkable town and it is easy to rent a bike to get around. You can hire a horse-drawn carriage to take you around, but in the end, you will experience the best of Bruges tourist attractions on foot.
There is a post office in the Markt for those who send postcards. One way or other, you'll end up here, but I would save your dining experiences for more tranquil and picturesque opportunities ( B2 for example).
