We wandered into this hotel at the last minute -- had read a great review somewhere. A superb hotel on all counts that matter: perfect beds, good breakfast, friendly and interesting service, superb location, and wonderful perks (bikes). Clean and modern -- in a medieval city. It had everything, even staff that spoke four languages fluently and a charming hotel dog.

Having volunteered to organise a social for a group of 16 friends my first task was to find a hotel. I wanted somewhere with comfortable, clean and well-maintained rooms, a great location, good value on price, friendly and helpful staff and positive reviews from former guests.

After a lot of internet research (including here on tripadvisor) I reserved 9 rooms at the Adornes and our group could not have been happier.

The rooms were clean, well maintained and comfortable and the standard and large rooms were very spacious. Even the small rooms (chosen by those on tighter budgets) were not cramped.

The location was excellent and very picturesque. About a 5 minute walk to the main markt square, situated on a lovely canal and close to many restaurants, cafes and bars.

The value was good, especially when taking into account the excellent breakfast buffet that is served every morning. Even in this busy season the hotel kindly offered a small reduction for our block booking but the prices are good even at full price.

And best of all, the staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and full of advice too. And this applied from everyone to the receptionists, the cleaning staff, the breakfast/ kitchen staff and the night manager. Many hotels have efficient and helpful staff, not so many are genuinely friendly too.

Additional positives:-
* Many hotels in Bruges offer bikes to their guests but most charge a rental fee and have only a handful available. The Adornes have enough bikes for all their guests to have one and offer them on a complimentary basis.
* Complimentary parking in a secure parking garage close to the hotel. Again, a number of hotels offer parking but most charge quite a bit for it.

Minor suggestions for improvement would be:-
* to provide hooks on which to hang the shower heads - currently one has to use one hand to hold the shower head which makes shampooing a touch difficult!
* when next replacing bedroom furniture (which is in good condition currently) to choose those twin beds where both the bases and the mattresses can be locked/ zipped together to convert into doubles - a few of us requested doubles and whilst the twins were pushed together the bedding was separate for each and the beds moved apart at the slightest pressure!

I cannot imagine staying anywhere else were I to return to Bruges, and that, for me, is probably the most positive thing I can say.

  • Liked — Spacious rooms, excellent value, great location and genuinely warm and lovely staff
  • Disliked — No true double beds!

My husband and nine year old son stayed here the night of 4/6/07 as part of our wonderful stay in Brugge. This small hotel consists of three small attached buildings. We had a triple room on the top floor. The room was very clean and spacious. We had a very big window that opened up facing the canal- what wonderful views! The beds were comfortable and dressed in soft linens and a duvet. Our room had a beamed ceiling and a large wooden chest that added to the appeal of the room.

The bathroom was spacious and had a window and a combination tub/shower.

The hotel offers a free breakfast buffet that was very good. The breakfast area is behind the small lobby and is nicely decorated. The morning we were there they had a fire going in the wood burning fireplace. A basket of various rolls and croissants as well as a carafe of coffee was brought to our table (you also have a choice of tea or hot chocolate). The buffet consists of various fruits, yogurts, cereals, breads, meats and eggs.

This hotel is walking distance to the main attractions in Brugge. We walked the entire city over the course of a day. The hotel also offers free bike rentals.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Brugge.

Wonderful hotel! Great breakfast. We had a decent size room facing the courtyard, it was very quiet. The people at the front desk were wonderful. They were so helpful and gave awesome recommendations for dinning. There are tons of bikes to borrow and is a lot of fun to bike around the town. This may be a drawback for some, but for my husband and I we loved the fact that the hotel was a bit out of town, it was an easy 10 minute walk or so. I would highly recommend this place.
