I was charged a 10% cancelation fee when I canceled 5 weeks before my arrival. After 2 long distance conversations with the hotel, several emails and reading their web page there was no mention or warning of a cancelation fee.

I regret your reaction to our cancellation policy . Our hotel is member of the Bruges Hotels Organization and follows the advised cancellation policy . There are many hotels that have an even stricter policy . Our website has a clear direct booking system where alle terms and conditions are mentionned .
You mentionned in your email to the hotel that you would not come to Bruges at all because of this , I regret to hear so as you would certainly miss a lovely experience , Bruges is a gem .
With sincere my greetings .

Stayed here for 3 nights as a part of a group so I can't speak to the pricing of this hotel compared to others in the area.

Plusses -
- The location is very scenic and quiet -- still in the historic center but away from the worst of the tourist crowds (more about this later)

- Rik (our host) was exceedingly helpful and was always ready to help with the planning for our day or evening

- The entire property seemed clean and well maintained

- Breakfast set up and selection was very good

Minuses -
- As I mentioned, the location is in the historic center but away from the worst of the tourist crowds - about a 10-15 minute stroll. Perhaps too far away for some. Since we WERE tourists, we often found ourselves having to choose whether to drag purchases around through all the sights or afford the 20-30 minute walk round-trip back to the hotel to drop them off... not to mention the additional wear and tear on our feet. If the hotel was (perhaps) a bit closer to the central market, etc. it would have saved my feet. In other circumstances I might have availed myself of one of the bikes but my wife hates cycling.

- Wi-Fi was spotty at best unless you were in the lobby. This was the general consensus for our group.

Room Tip: We had room 12... it was fairly spacious (for small hotels in Europe) and had two sets of large wind...

Weekend away with a couple of ex work colleagues with the Adornes being the base. It is in a good location, quiet and only 10 -15 minute walk to the main square and has a canal in front and the oldest pub in Bruges around the corner! My room was (11) ok but my colleagues said that the plugs did not work in the bath so had to squat to shower - they did not complain, I would have. The breakfast was ample with enough bread to sink a fleet of ducks. One reviewer commented on wi-fi only working in reception. There are two choices and selecting "Guest" will permit the wi-fi to be picked up in the rooms without any problem.
The staff are friendly and Rik recommended a bar that brewed extremely strong beer, and it was! There is a list of activities going on in Bruges pinned up and Rik will, with a lot enthusiasm, take you through the lot. There are bikes to use, we walked only, but riding on cobbles could be uncomfortable so take thick trousers!

The Adornes is a real find. It's a little off the beaten track, which means it's not in the middle of the central hubbub, but it's still only about a ten-minute walk to the central plaza. Sitting on a beautiful, quiet canal, our room on the top floor was roomy, quiet and inviting. And there's an elevator! Good buffet breakfasts, and very helpful staff. Free parking in a nearby garage if you're driving to Bruges. Only negative is weak wifi that really only works in the lobby.

On the recommendation of some friends, we stayed one night as this hotel and found it to be exceptional. We later learned that this hotel is recommended by Rick Steves and understand why. It is a beautiful hotel located canal-side in Bruges. I would guess the building is well over 200 years old, but the rooms have been recently renovated and are very nice. The owner and staff were friendly and very helpful, and the Adornes had more of the charm or a bed and breakfast than a hotel; and by the way, the breakfast that was included with the room was excellent! The hotel is in a great location, just a few short blocks to city center, and because it is a few blocks away, there was no noise at night. The only drawback that I noted was there was no shower curtain in the tub. Perhaps this is a European thing, but you have to sit in the tub to shower with the hand held spryer. Nevertheless, this is a wonderful hotel that I will choose again.

Room Tip: Visit the basement of the hotel where there is a lounge with TV and games. The staff will be happy...

We enjoyed the quiet away from the tourist folks but Adornes was close enough to see everything. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast included. The bicycles that were there for us were quite nice; Brugge is a good place to ride. One can stop at whatever interests you and just lock up your bike with the included lock. The building has a lot of character. It was amazing how clean the hotel was considering its age. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it.

We stayed two nights at the Adornes which is well located in a quiet scenic area of Bruges away from the tourist hoard yet within easy walking distance of most attractions. Rooms were comfortable and clean but nothing exceptional. Rik was extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay providing excellent recomendations for activities, dining, shopping, etc. We took advantage of the free bicycles for a ride to Damme and beyond - highly recommended. Breakfast was good but it was difficult to get coffee refills. Overall, a very nice hotel.
