“Lovely location ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

We were very happy with our stay. The area was lovely and within walking distance to all the sights. This hotel is really close to the lake of love. We had a large room overlooking the internal courtyard. The vaulted breakfast area was great too.

Stayed here for three nights. Good standard of accommodation. We stayed room only so I can't comment on the breakfast option. However there are so many places to eat, we were spoilt for choice. Would happily stay here again as it is only 10 minutes for the station.

Great location , handy for station but close enough to centre to easily walk everywhere to sights and decent eating places. Staff very friendly and helpful, excellent language skills. Clean and comfortable, our room large, well appointed, tea and coffee on tap, BBC on TV. Would have preferred a double bed rather than two singles pushed together but no big deal. Breakfast was included, good variety of fairly decent food - all tastes catered for. The bar was very reasonably priced compared to others nearby. Not the absolute height of luxury but a great place for a short break and ticked all the boxes for us, as everywhere, the most important asset is the staff- couldn't fault any of them, we'll definitely use Academie again.

Room Tip: Rooms at front overlooking street do get noise from passing tourists fairly early - if you're a...

Stayed here for three nights with friends and family beginning of December. Our room was clean and spacious - being a family room - and had recently been refurbished. The location was good for seeing central Bruges and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Car parking under the hotel was great as parking in the city centre is at a premium. Able to leave car on our last day until afternoon at no extra cost. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter than those at the front.

Just got back from a short stay in Bruges and stayed at this hotel. The location of it was superb. There were fantastic restaurants just round the corner and great cafes if you didn't want to spend a great deal. The staff at the hotel were brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful. They even let us go shopping and leave our bags and our shopping in the hotel until we were ready to go for our ferry at teatime. The reason I haven't given it 5 stars is due to the continental breakfast been poor and the very limited choice of refreshments in your room and been asked to pay for more tea and coffee? Finally the hotel doesn't have a dedicated member of staff in the bar until late in the evening and it was a pain waiting to get drinks.

I stayed at this hotel in early December 2013 for the weekend. I paid 190 euros per night (Friday and Saturday night) and I don't feel that I got value for money.

Welcome:
The receptionist was also working behind the bar, so we had to wait until he became free.

The rooms:
Old and dated. The beds were made sloppily. 2 teabags per room?? That's a big cheap. The shower screen was chipboard (instead of glass) which meant the shower was very dark. The drain plug in the shower didn't allow water to drain. The shower temperature was either scorching or freezing.

Also, the walls are as thin as paper. I was woken up in the night and in the morning by people talking in the hallway or knocking on doors.

The good things? The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The location is great (half way between train station and hotel).

We stayed at this hotel as part of a package with Riveria Travel. The staff we very polite and helpful and spoke good English. Our room was spacious and had a very comfy bed, good size bathroom with shower and a decent television with access to BBC1 amongst other UK channels. Breakfast was a buffet style which enabled you to try different things. The hotel also had a decent bar and was packed every evening during our stay. Location wise it is a short walk to the main centre but there are some decent restaurants on the same street if you do not want to go far. We would definitely stay there again.
