“Lovely hotel, Great location!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We stayed here from the 28-30th December and our stay was a delight!
The hotel is much more modern than we anticipated so straight away we were chuffed with the deal we found.
The hotel is in perfect location down a side street, just a 10 minute walk from central station and a 10 min walk to the main square.
The staff on reception were freindly and the room was clean and suited our needs for our trip to this beautiful city!
Would most definatley stay here again!

Stayed here from 28-30th December. Hotel is lovely and very well situated down a side street so nice and quiet.

Staff were really friendly and had a good sense of humour. They were more than happy to accommodate us when we arrived earlier than check-in time and managed to get us checked into our room earlier which was on the top floor. We overlooked the central part of the hotel and the room was lovely and quiet and really clean.

There is a nice restaurant / tea-room at the end of the same street as the hotel called t'minnewater which we can recommend for a nice evening meal. Every restaurant seems to offer a three course 'choice' menu which are all pretty much the same but this one offered a much more reasonable price and the staff were polite and friendly.

Bruge itself is lovely, we visited the belfry in the morning on our last day in the end as the queues were really long in the afternoon. It's worth paying a vist first thing instead as all the day-trippers seem to appear from lunchtime onwards (we suddenly noticed how busy it got!)

Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel as in a really good location and handy for all the main sights.

The hotel was very well located in the town. Very helpful staff nice and friendly. My only niggles where the silly lighting system in the room,The light switches have bright lights built in which light up the room through the night and have some sort of multipul use so you dont know if which switch to use.The breakfast was nice and relaxed with a large choice of hot and cold food.Another niggle was when in the very plush bar with company and you want the toilet you have to go to your room or down to a smelly carpark very odd.

Room Tip: Check it is neer to the bar.(joking)

Stayed for 1 night in December.

This hotel is in a great location, we walked from the train station (approx 10 mins) and also great access for bruges short walk (no more than 10-15 mins) depending on where you want to get to. The market square is very close.

We arrived early, about 11 check in not until later but hoped to drop off our luggage and go exploring, We were surprised when our room was ready early and we were able to have the hey immediately.

Nice, clean room, spacious bathroom and comfy bed.

We had breakfast it was ok, not luxury but fair for the price we paid.

Staff very friendly and helpful.

Would definitely stay here again if in Bruges

We were booked into this hotel whilst on a coach trip and we were very pleased with our room which was comfortable and spacious and overlooked a pleasant courtyard. The bathroom facilities were very good and very clean. I was pleasantly surprised that we had tea and coffee making facilities in our room as this is not usual on the continent.

There was ample choice for breakfast and the buffet was varied and good.

I would agree with other reviewers that the location is central and not too far from the station. Outside the station we visited the Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival which I thought was fantastic.

Unfortunately we did not see enough of Bruges and will certainly return and would stay in the Academi Hotel.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Academie. The hotel is perfectly located between the station and the centre of the city. The immediate area around the hotel is very nice with good eating options. Our room was superior to the standard family room option with two separate areas for the children and us, each with its own tv.

The hotel is family owned and has a boutique feel to it.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bruges as a family or couple.

A few minutes from the centre and right next to the horse drawn carriages, oh and a cheese shop, a beer house and three restaurants so pretty good. The staff were friendly and helpful and importantly had a sense of humour unlike some of the robots in other hotels. Room was clean, comfortable and had a/c, television, fridge, drink making facilities and good bathroom. Breakfast was okay with a good (unchanging) selection although some of it lacked taste. Service though was good with tables cleaned quickly. We did stay as part of a package but would stay if we came to Bruges again.
