We stayed at the Karos hotel in Bruges for two nights.
The hotel is warm and friendly.
All the staff are very polite and courteous.
The rooms were spacious. We had a family room which was four single beds.
There were two adults, a 16 & a13 year old but the room was ample for the 4 of us.
Some of the reviews we read before we went said the rooms were dirty and old.
The room we stayed in clean and looked newly refurbished.
When we booked it stated we would get a free continental breakfast, which was correct but they also had bacon and eggs in a heated tray, which was bonus for my lad who only eats bacon.
Hopefully we will return to Bruges one day and we would not hesitate to go back to the Karos hotel.

Hello there!

Waauuuw , thank you ever so much for sharing your feedback with your fellow travelers! I see you are from Wigan so I believe you came to support for your team during their footbal match against our Belgian Zulte-Waregem team, right? Congratulations on winning by the way ;-)

It was a pleasure hosting you in our hotel and I'm very pleased to read your party enjoyed the scrambled eggs and bacon.

Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon - The Floris team

the hotel is small, not very luxurious, but I really liked it. the breakfast is good and the location is near restuarants and pubs, tourists cites, clothing shops and supermarkets, etc. recommended if you're going to brugge!!

Room Tip: Corner suites are private and cozy.

Thank you very much for your nice comments, the fragrenced smell you noticed is this one of the Rituals stick we have spread all around the hotel (Hammam Secret it's named). We had an enjoyable stay, mainly due to the good service and friendly staff and the high standards of cleanliness throughout which I think is really important. The room was a good size and the bathroom nice with plenty of good quality towels. The bed was a little firm for me and I always struggle to feel completely comfortable with hotel pillows but they weren't bad, All the bedding etc. was spotless and the maids did a great job of cleaning in the bathroom - we forgot to leave them a tip and I felt really bad as everything was absolutely pristine. We didn't use the pool but it's a good facility and the family area would be great if you had small children to amuse. The breakfast was good, choice of cereals and lots of variety of bread, rolls, croissants etc. There was fruit cocktail every day and it would have been nice to have a bit more variety there but don't want to nit-pick! 2 different fruit juices, cold meats and bacon and scrambled egg available every day too. As not all hotels in Bruges offer complimentary brekkie and its hard to find a good cheap dinner, we were very grateful for a decent meal to start the day. Full marks to the receptionist who checked out the train times to Ghent for us - by the way, go if you have the time, it's well worth it and only a little over 12 euros return. I would get the tram from near the station up to where all the nice buildings are, as it's about a half an hour walk - we had a baking hot day as well! Trains are quite frequent as well.

Recently stayed one night in the Floris Karos Hotel, the hotel itself was lovely with good facilities the only complaint i had was the room, which in itself was adequate but was like a sauna inside, the moment you opened the door the heat just hit you, it must have been over the boiler room as you could feel the heat coming up through the floor, when i mentioned during check out the receptionist didn't seem too concerned, beware if your booked into room 31.

I don't want my review to appear negative as it is a lovely hotel, within walking distance to the town itself, with good on site facilities, as i said before the only thing that let it down was the unbearable heat in the room itself.

Dear guest,

thank you for having stayed with us and for your excellent ranking, 4 outta 5!
I'm happy to read you found our hotel to be lovely with excellent facilities.

As for your remark about the heat, keep in mind there was a heat-wave in Belgium during your stay, but I will defenitely look into this.

Looking forward to hosting you back in our hotel during your next visit to Bruges!
Regards from the Floris team.

Our 3 night stay was pleasant. Good facilities and the pool is a bonus. Breakfast provided a good choice. The free internet was useful to research info on Bruges and the surrounding areas. Our room was large and clean. We had requested a twin room, however it was made up as a double although it was actually two beds pushed together, so we were able to sort this ourselves. the odd thing was that the room service attendant kept pushing the beds back together each day, not sure why. The décor was neutral and calming but the room did lack natural light, most likely as the ceiling was dark wood and the window was fairly small and we backed onto a small road which was overlooked by private houses which meant we had to have curtains closed most of the time. The only ceiling light was a dim one and was on entrance to the room so this did not help with the lighting in the room. Ceiling fan was useful as the room was very war, although it would not switch off so it was constantly running. Bathroom was clean and modern. The sink was very close to the toilet and would be an issue for larger people. There was no toilet paper when we arrived and we asked for some at reception and were told to take some from the toilets in the reception! Bar prices were reasonable. The system seemed odd as although we paid in cash for the drinks we were still asked for our room number, which led to an issue on checking out. We were surprised when we checked out that we were asked to pay for some drinks as we had paid in cash at the time of having the drinks a few nights previously. When we explained this to the receptionist, she did not appear to believe us and she had to make a phone call in order to sort it out. Not a good experience on check out. Train station is a 20 minute walk straight down the main road and the main square in Bruges is about 15 minutes walk with plenty to see along the way. Many restaurants and bars in the T'Zand which is 5 minutes walk. There is also a bus stop outside the hotel. In summary, a nice hotel, improvements could be made to the room lighting and overall customer service in the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with natural light and avoid rooms which face the private houses at the back of the h...

Dear Arcangelboo,

thank you for having stayed with us and sharing your feedback.

I do feel sorry to read about some of your remarks such as Housekeeping making your bed up as a double constantly and the ceiling fan which you couldn't switch of... both issues could have been easily fixed should you have mentioned these during your stay as I would have been able to address Housekeeping and would have been able to explain to you where the 'off' switch for the ceiling fan was. Anyhow, thank you for your remark about the lighting in your room too, I will surely look into that and see how I can improve this!

Furthermore thank you for your nice comments about our good facilities such as the indoor swimming pool, wifi and breakfast! Should your travel plans bring you back to Bruges don't hesitate to contact us directly, we would be happy to help you arrange your next trip. Best wishes from the Floris-team.
