“A delightful place to stay in Brugge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2011

My wife and I visited Brugge from the 2nd to the 4th of January for our first wedding anniversary. We stayed in the honeymoon suite at the Ter Reien and, as such, my comments really only apply to this room. We do not have a lot of experience staying in hotels but of all the places we have stayed in (none of which I would say were bad) the Ter Reien was the best! Our room was great; we had enough room for everything we needed, it was clean, it was warm, the view spectacular and the bed comfy. The television was not the centre-piece of the room which was a nice as we didn't travel all the way from New South Wales to watch tv. We had a nice bathroom attached to our room with a shower, sink, toilet and actual soap, not that weird bodywash/shampoo lotion that is seems prevalent around the place.
Oh and the view! We were right on the canal; our window opened to reveal a little fence which made us feel like we were on a balcony. If it had of been summer I would have been sorely tempted to jump into the canal. We just put our photos of the trip on our computer and I think that half of them would be of the canal, the ducks and the buildings all seen from our room.
The staff were very nice, especially the lady behind the desk who checked us in. She pointed us in the direction (and gave us some names) of good restaurants for our anniversary dinner and seemed genuinely pleased for us that it was our anniversary. After not following her directions we ate at a dodgy place in the market so the next day she called some nice places to try and book us a place for our anniversary dinner take two.
We enjoyed the breakfast very much; I was particularly fond of the pastries and that breakfast was included in the room price.

Overall we would recommend the Ter Reien and their honeymoon suite to everyone who we like. We had a wonderful time in Brugge made all the more wonderful for our stay at the Ter Reien.

We actually stayed here one year ago and I have been meaning to write a review as the place was great! Bruges is a magical city and Hotel Ter Reien is a lovely hotel, when we go back we will stay there again.
We had a spacious room, and a ok sized bathroom.
The staff were helpful when I asked for an adapter for a hairdryer, and were very welcoming in the breakfast room.
The hotel was in a great area and we walked to all the attractions (museums etc).
The hotel tries to be environmentally friendly which is great too!
The only improvement I could think of was for the hotel to have an evening dining area but this is not a necessity as there are lots of places to eat in the city.

We (2 adults and 2 children) got fabulous room with a great view of the canal.
The room was very clean and very spacious.
The breakfast was fine.
Only 5 minutes from the Burg Place.
I would certainly recommend it.
There is elevator.

This hotel wa a great location, and there is a public car park if you are driving, which is safe.
Suggest that you get a map for the car park from reception, as Bruges is one way, and without the map it is a challenge to find the car park.
I read that one review commented on the frosty staff.......I also thought this upon arrival, as the front of house did appear to be a little frosty (bordering on rude) - to the point when after dricing for 7 hours I was nearly checking in elsewhere...howrver I think that this may be a language/cultural difference as later on this was much improved, and good dialogue was established. Dont let this put you off, as the location is great, and the views from the courtyard are great. You can easily reach all places in Bruges, and stagger back after a few dark beers!
Breakfast was buffet style and good value for money.
The room was a little cold, but spacious and comfortable.
Graet value for money, great location, definitely worth a try.

We just stayed here for a couple of nights and found the location excellent, very easy walking distance to all we wanted to see and also to many good restaurants. The Italian one just along the street towards the centre was excellent and good value. I think booking is recommended, we just managed to get a table. The hotel was comfortable enough although the room was really too small. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. However, our only real complaint was the attitude of the staff, particularly the receptionist. She bordered on being downright rude both on our arrival and departure. Does this hotel get so many guests that they don't worry about what people might say about them? Because of its location we would recommend this hotel, but there is no excuse for the attitude of the staff - apart from the cleaner who gave us a very pleasant smile.

Hotel Ter Reien is in a maginificent location - right next to the main canal and just a couple of minutes away from the town centre.

Our room looked directly out onto the canal.

Breakfast includes a nice selection of cereals, yoghurt, meats, cheese, bread, eggs and beverages.

The bathroom is quite small, but wasn't a problem for us.

This hotel is 3 mins walk from center of the old town. The rooms seem to be small with a large bathroom or large with a "Pod" showeroom. Very comfortable room but if you are bigger than normal you will have a problem using the facilities in the Pod. There is not a lot of public space and a vending machine with a very reasonable costed range of wines. The water is a bit steep. The nearest grocery is 50mts across the bridge and open all hours The breakfast is good, unless you want " full English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh" but then again you are in Belgium. I would stay here again. BD
