Just a beautiful setting, if you're on a budget I recommend going to one of the local patisseries and packing a small picnic to enjoy by the lake. It's so peaceful and pretty here, and if you're in Bruges just hire a bike or put your comfiest shoes on and head down to see Minnewater Lake.

We went to the "lake of love" and loved it! the view of the lake is beautiful, you feel an incredible sensation of peace and calm, you want to stay there for a long time just hugging your couple and seeing the view, how the wind moves each leaf of the trees, seeing the ducks and swans...

Unfortunatelly there is some garbage in the lake, I don't understand how is it possible that someone want to contaminate this beautiful place.

Just a few steps past the Beguinage is the Minnewater lake. Allow about 25 mins or so to walk round. At he end is the Armoury where gunpowder was stored well away from other buildings. There are pleasant views across the lake and also towards the city walls canal. On the far side of the lake there are gardens to sit and relax and you finish the walk back by the Beguinage where there are plenty of restaurants and chocolate shops.

Ona sunny day you can walk around the lake for hours without spending any money.
My wife spent a long time photgraphing the water birds.
There is a footpath running past the end of the lake and we saw street musicians playing there. There is a public park on one side of the lake.

if you want to get out of the centre of bruges with all its beauty, but occasional tourist overload, this park gives the chance for just that. it's only 10 mins from the centre, but is full of romantic spots, or space to pause for thought.
