“A wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed August 17, 2006

I have visited the Prinsenhof a number of times, as we have been staying a few days in October for several years. Bruges is a lovely place for a short break, you can take the car but once you are there you can go everywhere on foot and we love it.

The first time we went, we took a package and travelled by Eurostar. The hotel was OK, but nothing to write home about. While we were there, we visited a restaurant, Den Anker in Katelijne Straat, and got talking to the owner. He recommended we go and have a look at the Prinsenhof before we left, so the next day that is what we did.

The hotel is down a quiet side street but very near to the main Markt Square. It is beautifully and stylishly decorated, with comfortable rooms and lovely bathrooms. We were shown around the public areas but were able to look at only one room, as the hotel was fully booked!

The following year we booked direct with the hotel, travelling with Hoverspeed from Dover to Calais, and have been doing the same ever since. It's such a convenient way to travel, and you can stock up at one of the big wine warehouses on your return. The journey from the Hoverport in Calais to the hotel takes just over an hour and is easy driving. The Prinsenhof always send directions which take account of any roadworks in Bruges itself.

Check in is efficient and straightforward, we park right outside the front doors and somebody takes the car round to the carpark at the back and parks it!

Then it's time for a hour relaxing in our comfortable bedroom before hitting the town!

A lovely breakfast is served in the pretty dining room, and although evening meals are not served, this is really no hardship in a place like Bruges which is packed with lovely places to eat.

One of the nicest and most atmospheric restaurants we tried is actually only one minure from the hotel, in the street behind the carpark. It's called 'de Vlaamsche Pot' and has great friendly staff and fantastic food.

The best thing about the Prinsenhof is the people of course. This place has such a wecoming feel and this is entirely down to Thierry and Katrien, the owners, and their friendly, thoughtful staff. We have noticed that, unlike in many other hotels there seems to be low staff turnover, so perhaps the happy feel of the place is down to a happy staff. Everyone seems glad to be there, and they'll bend over backwards to help in whatever way they can.

We'll be there again this October, and this time we're taking friends with us!

We have travelled to Bruges many times and tried different hotels. Whilst we have always been satisfied with our accomodation, we have struggled to find a good hotel that is also quiet. This hotel fits the bill perfectly. It is close to everything and once inside it is like a little haven of tranquility. The staff are very efficient and friendly. Everywhere is beautifully presented in a traditional style. The breakfast is high quality and we were lucky enough to get a room upgrade. The hotel is privately owned and this is evident in the attention to detail. I would have no qualms about recommending The Prlnsenhof and hope to return there next year.

Had a fantastic stay in the Prinsehof on 27th and 28th May 2006. Having read all the reviews on tripadvisor, we tried to book the Hotel Orangerie but as it was booked out we booked the Prinsenhof. What a great choice. It's located on a very quiet street but within very easy reach of all the main atttractions. From the moment we checked in, the staff could just not do enough. The foyer was really welcoming with candles in lanterns and a cosy seating area. The bedroom was fab too, had everything one would need for a comfortable stay. We'd a four poster bed with loads of cushions in gorgeous fabrics etc, huge bowl of fresh fruit, a great turn down service at night whereby they leave the next days weather forecast on your pillow with a chocolate etc and to top it off, nice soft music playing in the background. Breakfast was fab too, you just could not fault this hotel at all. Comes highly recommended!

The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly at the Prinsenhof. Because it is family run, the owners are behind the counter and eager to assist their guests. Our room was delightful with lovely decor, quailty furnishings and fixtures in the bathroom. Being on the ground floor made dealing with our luggage a breeze. In addition to the lovely room, we appreciated free access to the internet at a computer station on the first floor landing of the main building. The Prinsenhof is very nicely located, quielty tucked in off the main streets, but an easy walk out the door to anywhere in the center of Brugge. It was a perfect choice for our stay in Brugge. I highly recommend it.
