“Could have been better”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Glad we bought the 3 day museum pass as would have been slightly disappointed if had paid the full admission price for this one. Yes it had some interesting rooms but if it had been turned into a living museum like we have here in Britain it would have been fantastic. The woman on the desk was a little abrupt and we went to have a coffee in the cafe as this had been recommended to us only to find it shut due to staff shortages. Look out the black cat.

“Great value”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

A little off the beaten track but not too hard to find. Extremely interesting insight into Bruges life. Good value at 2 eu. Shame the cafe/pub was closed.

“Family friendly”

An interesting museum with displays of local trades over the ages children will love it . It is a bit of a walk from the centre but that in itself is also interesting. You can spend a good afternoon getting there and going round. It also has its own traditional bar with a good selection of beer

“Very interesting - no info in English”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Very interesting look at life as it used to be, laid out in a terrace of almshouses. Made a change from looking at all the works of art in most museums. It is included in the "museum card" which costs 12eu for three days which we made good use of in view of the weather! I was caught out as I was just telling my better half how impressed I was with museums having plenty of explanations/information in English when we found nothing here. Will have to brush up on my Flemish! It was still very informative.

“Great value for money”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

This cost only €3 for admission. It's a museum you can easily do inside half an hour with rooms set out showing professionals such as a chemist, tailor, cooper etc as they would have worked in the past. There is a tavern called the Black Cat in the midst of the museum which looked full of character. Interstingly there was also a Black Cat! This is a seemingly unexplored bit of central Bruges as it is slightly off the beaten track. It's close to the lace museum so worth doing the two together and taking time to look at the surrounding houses and churches which are a delight.
