Owner description: The Diamond museum sheds a fascinating light on Bruges' gem connection. Diamonds were traded and polished here as far back as the 14th century. The museum shows how medieval Bruges was the first diamond city in the world, and why the industry later moved to Antwerp. The museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions, a shop dedicated to all things diamond-related, and offers its unique Diamond Polishing Show every day.

“Good way to pass an hour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

This tour was interesting, particularly if you have an interest in gems. It was about Eur14 for a couple, which wasn't too high. Although if you are expecting an interactive experience, you might not like reading the numerous displays. Hence, it probably would not suit young children.

“Sorry, but total waste of money”

This was a very poor museum, and very expensive to get in. Certainly was not worth the money we had to pay to get in

“Very interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

It was interesting and the diamond cutting demonstration was well done (in two languages - Flemish and English). Glad I went but not fantastic. With an undiscounted entry fee for two people, you receive a card with the tiniest diamond in the world. I wouldn't bother with this.

“Diamond Museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012

Very interesting to see the history of diamonds and how Bruges was so important in the early history of the diamond trade. Loved the diamond polishing demonstration, he managed 3 languages and kept it interesting all the way through. Enjoyed the interactive exhibits ( determining the clarity of diamonds), as well as the measurement and different cuts of the diamonds. Expensive if only seeing the Museum, but for a couple of extra euros, the demonstration makes it worth the cost.
