Owner description: The 115 metres high brick tower of the Church of Our Lady is a perfect illustration of the craftsmanship of Bruges' artisans. The church displays a valuable art collection: Michelangelo's world-famous Madonna and Child, countless paintings, 13th-century painted sepulchres and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold.

Well worth going to see- a true masterpiece. The expression of the Madonna is like no other. Just go and gaze....

We thought that the church would be fully open again by now but it is still being restored. The outside is plain brick but the tower is very high and can be seen from various parts of Bruges. The interior is now partly open so you can walk around more than on our last visit in March 2013. There are some new sculptures to be seen. If you want to see the Madonna and Child the charge was 2 euro. Worth a visit.

Seeing the Michelangelo sculpture was awesome (got in 3 during our trip between this and the Louvre), but much of the church was undergoing cleaning/restoration, which did detract from the overall experience.

I visited the Church of Our Lady mainly to see The Madonna and Child sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti. The sculpture is a captivating masterpiece and is one of the gems in Bruges crown, I visited the church and the sculpture 3 times during my visit to Bruges. Due to renovation works, many of the other artworks are covered so the entrance is just €2 for the time being.
