Owner description: The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

The views from the top of the bell tower are great but the 366 steps are hard going, especially when you have to try and squeeze against the wall for people coming in the opposite direction.

It was a neat experience to be able to climb the Belfry and see all the bells. The views of Brugge were beautiful. The stairs are used to climb up and climb town and there were times the it was a little tight trying to get around people. It was a great experience!

It is definitely worth climbing up the 366 steps, the views are amazing. Went early, so didn't have to queue and there weren't that many people to manoeuvre around in the narrow staircase. There are different floors where you can stop and get more information.
Well worth a visit.

Despite the warnings about 300+ steps to the top, the climb was surprisingly easy due to many intermediate stops with some views and other interesting artifacts. The stairs get increasingly narrow as you go up, and maneuvering around people going in the opposite direction may get a bit frustrating. Here's keeping one's fingers crossed for not encountering any rude tourists rushing down as you go up. If that happens, however, grab on to the handrail!

Although during the summer months the line is quite long (30 minutes), it is definitely worth the wait! Only 70 are allowed up at one time. There are 366 steps and no lift. However there are three floors in which you can exit the spiral staircase to learn about bells and the history (also to catch your breath!). The top had a magnificent view of the city. It can get frustrated in the stairway because the way up is the same way down so you have to take turns letting people go by you (which is why they only let 70 in originally!). Highly recommend
